I was gunna say, im pretty sure the F150 cab has been on par for a long time. It was bigger that GM or Ram's for at least 10 years until they each released their new trucks in 2019. Im pretty sure the big cab dated back to 07 or 08 and I know for sure they had a large one by 2009 since thats the body style they carried thru to my 2014.

Yeah, I think the Tundra only got aluminum doors and hood. You’re right; the GVWRs are similar for both trucks, but the Tundra’s curb weight is 1k lbs heavier (or more depending on options) than a crew cab F150.

My father-in-law’s 2016 crew cab 4x4 EB has like 1830 lb of payload. His bed looks like trash because it’s aluminum and he actually uses it, but whatever. LineX it if you’re worried about how it looks. (He’s not).
If my GVWR were 7700, I’d have 1800 lb of payload, and I’d still be 450 lbs under the sum of the axle ratings.

This is why I am in no way worried to be 500 lb over payload.

Good incentives announced on almost Ford products. 0% interest and $1500 rebate on F150’s. Dealers are discounting on top of that.
It won’t be long before we’re back to the huge discounts. I think Ram is already there.

Tundra is at a 120k/ year run rate. Up approx 20% from normalized run rate. Tundra supply is loosening too. I got about $6k off msrp. Truck was supposed to be in at the end of June. Scheduled to arrive tomorrow.

another thought is having some weight like that helps control bigger trailers as well.

doesn’t apply to me , my boat is super small and light but I would like a heavier truck if I’m sticking 9-10 k behind it

    If you’ve got a 10k boat you need a 3/4 ton

agreed, I was just saying for the dudes that love to pull huge trailers with half tons lol

for me , I’m bailing to a bigger truck long before I get to the crazy limits all the half ton companies post . I just like a lot of reserve

I add in roads like the mountains of Colorado in Summer heat and always end up at about 70% of capacity max.

Unfortunately the wife saw the new GX, so hopefully Toyota gets that oil pressure issue figured out in the next year.

Oh and to be fair, if they changed a couple key things about the Tundra I'd jump right back in one and ditch the Ford.

I tried to buy her an LC before I got her the latest T4R and she wasn't in at all. I think she thinks the new Sequoia looks too similar. But that GX blew her skirt up.

From photos I'm seeing on the google it looks like Toyota has suddenly figured out how to integrate a large screen into the dash so it doesn't look like one of those DIY floating IPAD installs someone rigged up in their garage by cobbling together pieces from different dash kits along with Home Depot fasteners and wall brackets.

    He's a hybrid. He owns a 4Runner too.
I have told my local dealer to tell me when he has a 2024 Tacoma with 6ft bed and full time 4wd. i want to see it.

Well I guess more than a couple, but mainly I just think it’s horribly ugly. I also needed a 1/2 ton in 2022 and wasn’t going to buy the first year of ANY vehicle.

There’s several things I don’t like but that are not deal breakers, lack of tow hooks, only getting 3.31 gears, hump in the floor, small/tight cab, the way the info screen stick up like an afterthought, etc.

Well the first one is subjective (its just a truck or is it ?) hah hah, and the second doesn't apply anymore.
The other things are not deal breakers for you. I also prefer integrated with the dash screens.
JMO as long as Toyota doesn't try to double production 2 Tundras for every 6 F150's.
I think they can maintain reliability.
When they reduced the cabsize and bedsize it took it out for me. I don't have a cargo van like Breathing Borla to carry stuff.
And living in real winter I want full time 4wd for pavement driving if I am spending this kind of $$ on a truck.
If anyone has not driven a torsen diff 4runner or GX Lexus full time 4wd on pavement you owe it to yourself to feel how secure it drives.

Oh oh. I forgot. 4A at the $70k+ price point WAS a dealbreaker for me.
