2023 Tundra SR5 Crew Max TRD Sport Premium Quality Issues, does it change if you go up to a TRD Pro?

Hi all, went down to trade in my 2016 Tacoma 4DR TRD Sport Long Bed for a 2023 Tundra SR5 Crew Max TRD Sport Premium and was astounded at the lack of quality.

Pulling up, I noticed the fender flares were a different shade of white (very noticeable). Salesman said this is common with the new Tundras. OK, maybe i'll get over it. As i look closer at the fender flares, they are wavy and don't always meet up with the fender.

Quick interior view was OK but feels like a lot of cheap plastic. Went to press the back window down button and the overhead console moved about an inch up. Pressed on the overhead again and sure enough it is almost like the whole head liner (including console) was not connected. Again, sales rep says it is like that in every Tundra but no other ones on the lot.

Took it for a test drive and was underwhelmed with the engine and the overall drive. Very noisy like it had 20,000 miles on it already.

the sticker is $61k. The sticker on a TRD Pro is $72k. My question is whether the TRD Pro has similar quality issues?

I can’t speak for the Pro, but my Platinum has none of those issues.

If you can, go to another dealer and test drive a new truck. Probably wont find a trd pro to test drive but likely a limited or platinum. My platinum does not have these issues.

No issues like you’re experiencing with my 2022 TRD sport premium. Only had issue with the window seals sticking out but fixed under warranty. Almost a year and half of ownership and 20k miles now on my truck. Love my truck. :)

My '22 TRD sport has none of those quality issues. I would agree with others and check a different dealer, or different vehicle.

The quality issues will be there at every trim. The only thing that changes is you paid more .

No issues like that with my 22 TRD crewmax SR5. Sounds like your salesman was trying to get more money out of you.

Also anyone who says they don’t have that issues hasn’t looked closely. Every fender flare outside the pro is wavy. It’s the club connections poking through the thin plastic. Go look at an angle and you’ll see it.

Happy to say that i am a proud new owner of a 2023 TRD Pro. Happened to find one about an hour away where the person that ordered it had to back out. Got to drive it and the quality issues from the SR5 were not present in this one. Thanks for helping me out on this. Truck is awesome and take delivery on Monday.

I have a late 2022 TRD SR5 Premium Sport and have had zero fit/finish issues inside or out. I personally like the interior and felt there was not enough in higher models to justify the price. The interior material quality was better than the Ram Laramie I was cross shopping. New Laramie was a downgrade from my previous 2015 Laramie in terms of a lot of course grain plastics, Big Horn switchgear and "leather" seats made of 3-4 materials most of it not off a cow. There has been a general explosion of models for all the truck lines in an attempt to get that extra 10k-15k out of you for a strip of leather on the dash and massaging seats. Toyo actually does a better job with the mid or lower grade trims than other OEMs if you evaluate against similiar priced model.
