About to pull the trigger on a tonneau and looking at either the BAK X4S or the MX4. Leaning towards the X4S but want to be sure people who already have it aren’t having rattles or anything from it. There’s a lot of moving parts.

I don’t have rattles but it doesn’t fit properly on my truck (still waiting on customer support on that). When closed it makes no noise that I can hear with the back window open.

Appreciate it. Interesting on the fit. Some people say it fits great but I have seen a few comments like yours where the fit isn’t right.

It’s the latches for me. The rails are too close at the tailgate end (easy fix with a Dremel), but at $1200, I’m going to see if there’s something wrong under warranty. Supposedly they have great support, but we’ll see.

My x4s fits great, very happy with it. I haven't noticed any noises from it while driving. On the highway, you will see it moves a bit, but nothing audible that I've encountered.

    Very happy with it.

Mine fits and looks good with the two exceptions.

    1. When I unroll it and try to get it to latch it is generally slightly left or right on the rail preventing closing, a quick bump allows it to close. When you get used to it it’s not big deal. Defiantly don’t want to force it and bend the locking arms.

    2. The design with the aluminum slats and sizes only allow for a certain length. If you push it tight against the tail gate there is a gap at the front of the box. Right now my cover goes over the tailgate, but the recesses seal on the bottom side is about 1/2 in from the tailgate. Does allow a lot of water in during car washes and rain. I think it could be fixed, but the tailgate has some pretty wide gaps too.

No rattles and the rest of the cover seals good in my opinion.

Worst part of the install was the stripped torx bolt in the factory rail system.

Love mine, fits perfectly, no rattles, no leaks even from a car wash. I did have mine installed by a Bak certified dealer.

Mines been great. I’m at 7 months/10k miles since install. Only negative that I can report is if using the cover halfway or 3/4 rolled down due to a high object in the bed the roller is not secured. I’m not sure what the panels do but I wish I could secure it at highway speeds when not fully closed and latched

Did you install yourself? Mine seems to keep 99% of water out front or rear. Also…alignment is perfect every time. Maybe some tweaking is needed? Added seals?
