I was unaware of that feature . Seriously having the person in the car next to me see who I am on the phone with is weird.

or dont pair your cellphone calling ability to the head unit. otherwise you will have to find a jerry rig setup for what you want and make your own cut out from security film

just wanted to piggy back on @eddiefromcali , i also installed my original post on the shifter overlay. you have to put the shifter into neutral and engage the parking brake and turn the overlay east/west to fit over the shifter. made sure you remove the 10 double sided tape covers before trying to put it on.

yeah im pretty much done with getting it covered correctly (i got the extra set and still didnt get it right). i have like 4 small bubbles now and either i pull it off and forget it now or just live with the bubbles. only 1 is noticeable the other 3 you have to be in the passenger seat to see them.

Was it difficult to remove and did you think there was any risk of damaging the display when removing it?

just be extra careful, and pull it from the top and very slowly. if you scratch the top of the cover you wont notice it.

you cant damage the display since the oem cover is protecting it. its the curve of the oem cover that is issue of getting a decent angle to squeegee the water/bubbles out.

What I meant was is there a risk of protective cover pulling off any coatings from the original display on removal?

the cover is just a plastic shield, no coating on it. otherwise i didnt feel any play when removing the 1st screen protector after about 10 days of installation. i was very slow and tugged gently on removal. on install of the screen protector, i adjusted the film down with it barely covering the top edge to facilitate easy removal if needed.

Hi, I just purchased the Screenprotect for both infotainment and digital dash.

Question, does anyone know if there is a film from factory on the infotainment screen already that should be removed prior? I can’t tell, but looks like there might be…I don’t see any overhanging film pieces to pull but, some very small bubbles in one corner makes me think maybe there is a film.

there is a oem cover, if the dealer hasnt removed it. it works albeit you can see it and it not that great if you have ocd. if you dont have ocd it gets the job done.

Ok thanks. I’m hoping that’s the case because I do see some minor blemishes on the screen. I’m going to have the PPF guys install while it’s at their shop.

there should be a very small tab in the top left of the screen to pull it off

I have yet to receive my '23 Tundra, so I can't visually verify, but from the sounds of it there is an OEM protector on the Instrument Cluster? Is it meant to stay in place or be removed upon receipt of vehicle? Beacuse if there is an OEM cover (similar to how some cell phones come), why would you need a second protective film cover?

From looking online, all I am seeing is the film protector for the Instrument Cluster being sold by ProTech. Has anyone else found one that is separate, by itself? I prefer tempered glass for infotainment screen but it seems like film would be the only way to go with instrument cluster, since it's curved.

Another reason why I was asking if there was an OEM cover on instrument cluster, is if there is, maybe one could buy a blank piece of the protective film and trace a stencil on the film, using the OEM protector. This could be helpful if nobody ends up selling the instrument cluster protector by itself, and only in a bundle.

There is an OEM "cover." But its designed to protect the screen during production/shipping/dealership etc. Its not meant to be left on.

    Lots of stuff!
When I put mine on, I couldn’t see any OE film but when I was cleaning the screen with the included dust removal stickers, a film layer came off. I couldn’t tell that it was there in many months of ownership!

so after about 2 months of heat (it sits outside at home/work for the wife) the bubbles i had on the last install on the MID display finally disappeared.

in case anyone is having issues getting the MID to be bubble free.

For those of you who went with the Spigen tempered glass protector, are you still happy with it?

    TIA,

This may be a silly question but is there is there logic on why someone would go with one brand over another for something like this (taking things like past experience with a brand out of the equation). Specifically I am trying to decide between the Spigen or the Screen Protech and dont know if I am smart enough to understand what differentiates them from each other. I did read some on Amazon mention the Spigen makes things slightly blurry.

The Spigen is a thin piece of tempered glass. The Screen ProTech is a clear plastic film. I went with the Screen ProTech in the anti-glare version. it installed easily on the 14" screen and the MID display. I got no bubbles on either. The anti-glare definitely helps. Only a slight loss of resolution.

The key to a good install is to use a LOT of the liquid spray to both mating surfaces AND to the outer surface of the protector. Work the bubbles and spray out from the center to the outer edges.

I used a Spigen glass cover and I'm happy with it. I'm sure it's 6 of one and 1/2 dozen of the other. The glass cover was very easy to instal dry and came with a nice squeegee to do the job.
Almost no loss of "touch". I think I turned the sensitivity up 1 click.
