Has anyone tried a diy for underseat storage for CM gen 3? I see what Esp has to offer but with that price tag I feel like I can build something for 1/3 of the price. I've even thought about doing 3 individual bins as opposed to one long connected tray... I'm not concerned with securing the bins for theft. More or less some underseat storage for decent first aid kit, jumpers, rain gear sort of thing. Seems like if I could get the rough openings for the esp kit I could create something myself from wood and bedline spray it. Let me know your thoughts...thanks.

Get 3 small depth tubs from Ikea and cut out the sections to fit.

You should be able to do a diy. You could probably find some plastic bins. That way they'll be thin walled. I did the esp route. I like it a lot. But you could definitely do it cheaper on your own. The esp looks factory though, very clean.

I've been thinking of making my own too. I'm a woodworker and can easily make something to fit. One way to begin would be to make an exploratory hole (where your certain a container would work) and increase its size gradually. Another way would be to pull the rear seat. I think it will be fairly self explanatory with the carpet pulled back. 3rd way would be for some kind sole to post dimensions.... hint hint

Did a little googling after mention of Ikea above. Found another post on another tundra forum. Looks like the trofast bins at Ikea fit nicely. The guy in the write up took his seat out in order to gain clearance for the bin to set flush to be traced out. They are 3 bucks a piece. Think I would just buy a 4th bin and cut the top off of and use for a template. Paint or bedliner black, apply some sticky Velcro to floor plan and bin. Bam....Esp diy version. Less than $20.

Man for $189 I think ESP's pricing for a factory clean look is perfect. When I'm not longer driving with 2 car seats back there, they'll be my first call. I'd be proud to support the hell out of those guys.

I agree cheehab. Not trying to take anything away from the Esp guys. They make awesome products. Just considering a cheaper route to achieve the same amount of function. Got carseats also, hints the reason for me on the cheap. Honestly think scuffing the bin with some 60 grit, hitting them with some plastic dip or bedliner will look decent. I found these bins below on Amazon. I think they would work too. Does any one know the actual thickness of the foam so I can gauge an accurate depth for a bin? Ikea's are approx 4". These on Amazon are 3".

Gonna have to cut through my weather tech also. But think that will add to the look if I can spray bins with similar texture to the mat.

Has anyone found a solution to access the bins/ space while the seat is down. I am also running two car seats a lot of time and anything underneath them is not easily accessible. Wondering about cutting all the way to the front?

This is basically the reason why I haven't cut up that foam yet @Medic. I have two car seats up. It's a choice between having storage a dn access vs kids riding with me. Kids have to go.

Someone should do a drawer pull out system so the bins can be accessed with the seats down. If you guys can get on that, that would be great!

Any one know actual depth of the foam? That has done the esp route? Guess I could take a piece of small wire and poke it through the carpet til I hit metal, but if anyone would like to share I would appreciate it. Trying to find some bins...
