It gets humid inside the tire. Without the coating the beads would clump together and negate its ability to balance the tire.

I sent them follow up questions to find out how I will know when the coating is compromised because I want to do a test by applying flame via a lighter directly to the beads. Also asked what happens to the beads when you get a puncture or pop a bead - wondering if the tire vomits out the beads.

Sounds like they're telling you to go for it without telling you to go for it. You only YOLO once, man.

I thought beads were installed through the valve stem?

You can throw in a pouch(es) when you first install the tire. I'd imagine 16 ounces of beads through the valve stem would take a long time.

Interested to hear your first-hand experience. I've been having a lot of trouble with weights and have been considering these.

Aside from the drilling, looks kind of similar to installing a motorcycle tire tube, I'm sure it gets easier by the 3rd wheel.

Thought I was doing something wrong and had to re-watch this video. This guy basically slips the one side of the tire over the front side of the wheel like it was nothing. That shit ain't happening with these fuckin 40s. There is no flex or give whatsoever.

The fire peep show has been cancelled folks. Sorry to disappoint. Plus, I just fucked up my back. This is about all you're gonna get.... eat it up

You’re gonna love the beadgrip. I’ll be surprised if you can get them mounted but a 40 might be a bit easier. Never had an issue on the old man’s rig with his beadgrips.

just getting them to let go can be an absolute nightmare.

poor guys at DT had to battle bead grips twice..

Once to replace a TPMS sensor after they broke mine during install, 90 minutes to break the outside bead...
Second time to r/r my 35's for 37's, they ended up shredding the the bead carcass and ended up crediting me full retail value on a Ridge Grappler.

I'm eyeing those Apex valve stems, just don't want to deal with breaking beads again :/

Y'all making me nervous :p These 40s have 4 ply side walls when most MTs only have 3 so they're a lot stiffer. Shops may never be able to get them off o_O

Discount Tire shredded two of my yokohama mt's when removing them off my methods bead grips. Good luck with getting those tires on.

Since this set is dedicated for off road use only I hopefully won't have to remove these tires for many years. If I get sidewall punctures I will patch them. I guess if I need new free tires I'll just take it to the shop to get shredded

Ya they gave me a new set of K02s to make me happy.

It’s sad, I just put 37s on the tundra and already looking at 40s..

Finally got around to unboxing my warrantied RCV axle. Looks like RCV is changing things up with different style boot clamps and it appears they are using some sort of yellow adhesive to possibly keep the boot from leaking  That yellow stuff dried up hard.

Damn still in the box and they are already rusting? If you put a coating over it to prevent additional rust, does it throw the balance off? Are CV axles balanced?
