Anyone check out the new Taco? I watched the TFL vid on it. I had a couple of WTF moments, seems the Tundra got the short stick in some areas. Front row hooks, removable air dam, TRD pro seats just to name a few. I can’t remember the payload as we know the real number will change. But it’s very close to the Tundra

There's a few threads about it already, some people pretty salty, some people just excited to see this tech in the new 4Runner.

They are so different, it is hard to imagine having buyers remorse, unless the person is a Tundra owner who really only needed a mid-size and is more into off roading.

Oh like the Land Cruiser, Toyota stopped selling the Tundra in the US in 2021. Now you can choose between the Taco and Grande Taco.

Mpg in the new Taco will be interesting to find out, which I’m hoping is mid 20s to possibly upper 20s. Tacos will sell well regardless though. Curb weight will also be interesting as the Max versions may weigh more than an aluminum F150 if going off the increase seen by the Grande Taco Max weight (with the resulting power increase being largely negated).

I wish the Tundra had the wireless trailer camera. I do think it makes sense to have it on the taco because it's not wide enough and towing mirrors would look goofy on it.

I also wish the Tundra had the electric tailgate.

The disconnecting sway bars would be cool to have. But I will probably never use it. I like driving on fire roads but I'm not going to take a new vehicle to Moab.

I want the tundra for my 18ft trailer. I'm still very excited about the 2023 Limited Offroad I'm getting this week.

only 2 things on the new taco seemed worthwhile.

    1. tailgate (why they didnt put a button on the passenger side on the tundra)
    2. that blue color looks really nice
    3. dedicated temp/volume knob (fukking hate the tundra temp change switch)

I thinking some of these will get brought over in a mid-cycle refresh. Possibly a new grill as well. 2026?

well if mid cycle follow tradition on the tundra, it wont be until a minimum 2026/2027. probably more likely 28/29 with how long the 2nd gen went

I think he meant 'men' as in 'mankind', 'the era of men' etc.

The Tundra is not for cats or elves.

interesting specs on the hv tacoma,

turbocharged 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine with a 48-horsepower electric motor and a nickel-metal hydride battery pack. In total it makes 326 horsepower and 465 pound-feet of torque.

I feel the 2g was kind of an anomaly. I think with the Tacoma, this is the fastest Toyota has ever done a new truck.

You either need a big truck or a small. All other factors don’t matter at the point.

based on the hv taco, the engine has more for it than a tundra sr and pushing close to the regular non hv tundra in torque, then add in the 6ft bed on the taco and things are getting blurry

326 horsepower and 465 pound-feet of torque (taco hv)
    • i-FORCE 3.5L Twin-Turbo V6: 348 hp @ 5200 rpm, 405 lb-ft (SR model)

    • i-FORCE 3.5L Twin-Turbo V6: 389 hp @ 5200 rpm, 479 lb-ft.
    • i-FORCE MAX 3.5L Twin-Turbo V6 Hybrid: 437 hp @ 5200 rpm, 583 lb-ft.

I'd like to have the tow hooks. They have a coil spring rear suspension on the higher end model and leaf spring on the lower end models which I thought was interesting. I personally would be happy with a leaf spring rear suspension if it meant a great increase in cargo capacity

true but if a person/business is looking at capabiity of a tundra sr vs taco and you look at the price points, it get blurry.

this is starting to look like the old v8 4runner scenario where it was encroaching the lexus gx. toyota decided to many were buying a 4runner v8 than the same v8 gx for cheaper and same capability.

this is leading me to seeing the SR drop if the taco encroaches on the SR and poaches sales. i mean from a capability view point.

i agree the interior roominess is a non compare since the tundra wins IF you get the crew cab. the double cab tundra is borderline taco restrictions level.

I wish dealers would allow controlled testdrives with a trailer. Just looking out for future taco buyers that look to tow 5K+ pounds.
