Alrighty, circling back on this as I finally got my truck back after 2 months.

This whole thing has been really fishy from the beginning, and to be honest I am just glad it was resolved and cost me relatively little compared to what it could have been. Was it resolved as I had hoped? No. Am I just happy to finally have my truck back? Yes.

Toyota of Slidell was great and did the best they could considering the hand the first dealership dealt them. Since the first dealership tried to pin the whole thing on me and submitted everything to the Toyota system, it was not possible to get it covered under warranty.

I ended up needing a new fuse box and new wiring harness. This required a tremendous amount of labor including removing the bed of the truck. It ended up totaling around $8k.

THANK GOD my comprehensive auto insurance covered this expense. The thought of coming $8k out of pocket on an already very expensive 6mo old truck would do my head in.

Apparently I am the first person lucky enough to ever experience this situation with a corroded fusebox on the 3rd gen tundra. I never spilled anything back there and believe it is some kind of coverup from the first dealership due to the timeline in my initial post and having never gotten any liquid near the fusebox. I can't name any names or positions within Toyota, but I am not the only one who feels this way.

    PSA

If it is at all possible that a liquid spilled in the back seat could cause this much damage, all of ya'll need to be super careful. I would hate for anyone to have to go through this nightmare.

I suggest OP move to "zero sugar" beverages in an attempt to reduce the damage done to interior electrical components.

Interesting. I just developed the same problem on May the 15th. My dash is lit up like a Christmas tree.

I went by the dealer and see about a date I can drop off the truck and the service guy immediately asked if I had the engine detailed. I said I haven’t washed my truck for over 3 months. What do you think? Lol.

It is the fusebox under the rear passenger side seat.

Oh man. The fusebox I had a problem with is in the cab. Hopefully your problem is just a brake actuator.
