New Taco was released…things it has I wish my Tundra has…

I watched some videos and am pretty meh on the new Taco. Some cool options and the grille certainly looks better. But it looks like they managed to somehow make a considerably bigger truck while making the rear seat space and storage even smaller than the old one. Am I the only one that looks at those TRDPro seats and thinks they are unusable, oversized and ridiculous? Speaking of ridiculous when are car companies going to stop over doing it with the giant touch screens. I mean in a few years they are going to have mounted my big screen tv in a Chevy Spark.

I would like the Taco better if they managed to get good MPG but while I haven’t seen any official numbers I would expect they are lackluster.

 

I really like the passenger "Oh Shit" handle on the console, is that new?

 

Lets see what prices are i bet they price it so high the core buyers cant afford them anymore.

 

I like the manual shift in the Taco.
But if I wanted serious offroading, I'd get a 4runner.
Taco doesn't seem to have a good place for me.

 

Yah hopefully they fixed that sitting on the floor feeling and also that super small door entry size so you have to fold in half to get in for the folks looking to get a taco

 

I believe one of the TFL videos I saw said they raised it 2.4" inside the cab including footwell (dont quote me, going off memory here). But I agree, I really disliked the seating position in the Taco.

 

Watched a lot of reviews already. Toyota kept the overall length 100% the same. I think the truck is a bit wider and definitely a bit taller for headroom. TFL said the rear legroom is better too. Toyota said thr wheelbase extended a few inches so that’s where the legroom comes from. I agree that the TRD PRO seat is a bit ridiculous and solves a non-problem for offroaders.

 

Yeah I just watched the new TFL video on the new vs old and it does seem like the rear legroom is better so I’ll concede that. I think the interior photos I was looking at before were the TRD Pro version with the monster seats and hybrid system taking up a lot of space.

I’m still skeptical on what real world MPG will be, but after seeing the TRD Sport versions comparison I do like the new one a lot better. I still don’t want one for myself, but it’s a nice upgrade over the 2023.

 

It's odd that a lot of people complain about the seating, but I'm '6 1" and it never bothered me. Maybe because I had a '20 with power seats.

These new Tacomas will fly off the lots. Sticker price plus dealer mark up of 10,000 or more would make my guess right around 80K, or more? Probably closer to 90K for the Pro or the Overlander or what ever they are calling it. They really do look like a nice well equipped truck but the price will be scary.

 

If that taco hybrid hit 28 I think a lot more people gonna buy it, just hope Toyota don’t f this up again with that small ass battery to help towing.

I'm 93% sure those seats are 2x the cost of a suspension seat, if not more.

 

Tim @ Pickup Truck Talk Plus SUV has a video out about the 24 Taco where an individual at 6'8" climbed in and out without too much issue.

 

Toyota obviously knows which truck butters their bread. Seems as though they put a lot of thought, good or bad into the Taco. The Tundra seemed to be an afterthought.

 

I just hope they let you get the double cab with 6' bed and manual trans in this generation. Would def make people like me contemplate what my next vehicle would be

 

Never heard complaints about the gen3 rear coils.. Apparently MotorTrend has.. and thinks it’s a poor design.

yeah they better not screw up the 4runner like they did with the sequoia rear area. i bet toyota mid cycle fixes that rear storage area, otherwise i think overall the tree wont sell very well long term.

 

What will be interesting is to see if ARB is going to offer free rebuilds on those shocks like they currently do or if they’ll pull a stunt like rigid did with the tundra fogs and say that you gotta go to Toyota to get that fixed

 

Of course they will have to go to Toyota. ARB offers rebuilds on products they have sold aftermarket because the margin is built in, as an OEM offering there's next to zero chance they'd offer "free" rebuilds.

 

I saw 6500 for non-HV and 6000 for HV towing and 1709 payload IIRC.

 

That's 42% accurate.

 

Some hybrid models they are saying 1700 lbs..so we shall see. Towing is still 6-6500 lbs but it does have an integrated brake controller now.

 

It pretty much always has been, the Tundra is not and won't be a class leader....The Tacoma on the other hand has been a class leader for a long time, I think the Tacoma is as important to Toyota in North America as the Wrangler is to Jeep...so they spend accordingly.
