Ok, so serious question for you guys running 38gal tanks on your 2019s and newer....

In anticipation of my sliders finally showing up :tumbleweed:...

It is my understanding that w/the large tank, the last bolt on the driver's side (at the very rear) can be a bitch to get in. So, it would seem like the easiest route would be to loosen the front straps of the fuel tank, slide it about 1/2" or so, get the bolt in pace, then re-secure the tank. But, to do this, I'd want the tank drained as much as possible. I've not let it get below 1/2 yet, and it's my understanding that the lie-o-meter is waaay off when it comes to how much fuel is left when the low fuel light comes on or when the digital display is showing 0 miles remaining....

I don't want to accidentally run the tank completely dry, but I want it down to only a few gallons. Does anyone here know how far past the warning light or mileage left indicator we get me there???

Your DTE will read zero miles when you have between 6 and 8 gallons of fuel. The only way this will be an issue is on an incline because of the length of the tank. You could possibly tip the truck enough to have fuel move away from the fuel pickup.

If you've got a longer wrench you could put a bit of duct tape over the back side so the nut can't fall out and use that to hold it up while tightening the bolt. Takes finesse, but definitely less involved than unhooking tank straps.

That's the route I was going to try first (not loosening the tank straps) and seeing if I can successfully manipulate the stupid thing into compliance first. But, I just wanted the tank option available if push came to shove. They say you get more patient as you age, but I've found the opposite to be true. So, instead of fighting the stupid thing for hours (if it comes to that), I'd just go the tank route. Apparently, you're only suppose to need to loosen the front 2 straps slightly and slide the tank just a bit in lieu of completely undoing it. :notsure: But, who knows... I just want my options in place!

Hopefully it goes smoothly for you. I know the wkor sliders I got were super easy install and I didn't have to ness with the gas tank at all.

Yeah.... they were on my list of considerations (top 3), but shipping for WKOR to me was freakin' nuts so that eliminated them from the list.

It's my understanding WKOR ships out w/a couple of backer nuts on thin welding rods to make that last one easier :notsure:

But, I'll get it figured out :headbang:

So, the wife and I finished off a 'local' bottle of Port this evening...

This is from the Barnard Griffin Winery in Colombia Valley and is made from a blend of their Syrah, Touriga and Tinta Cao grapes. It's much darker than most LBV Ruby Ports and has very little of the traditional notes and complexities of a good Tawny Port (such a raisins, candied orange, etc..) The Syrah grapes definitely gave this wine a unique flavor. It was good, but I wouldn't necessarily hunt it down again... Anyhow, cheers and happy weekend folks :proposetoast:
