Any Canadians taking delivery of their 2022 yet ?

Still no VIN and my sales guy is out of town (long known, expected, no worries there). Nobody from the dealership has communicated any delays to me, and they did charge my deposit. I tried to “squeeze water out of the stone”, as I really wanted to get an idea how sure they would be about delivery. The sales guy made it sound like it’s in transport. He said something along the lines of it being on a train soon, and transport related delays should be the only thing that might happen. Of course, it still has to be PDI’d and who knows what will happen there. I’m going to be researching and doing my own pre-drive-away inspection.

I can’t help but suspect that the dealership sales manager has more info and hasnt shared it with my sales guy, or they have a policy that they know things like VIN and absolutely won’t share with the customer... which is odd. But how else could they have an imminent delivery pending transport targeting the end of May, and not have a VIN? It just seems off. But this is a real high-repute dealer and we bought an RX350 from their sister dealership, so I’m not worried.

I sure hope all you guys get your new trucks as planned with no further delays. I just sold my 2013 Rav4 today and ordered new Falken AT3's for my truck so there is no turning back now.

They do know more that they're willing to share but I don't believe they would keep the VIN for themselves. Doesn't make sense. Toyota Canada is a mess.
I was told that everything is on schedule. I don't believe it but of course I may be wrong. We will see.

I’m just gonna give my dealership a random call tomorrow. See if they have any explicit knowledge of milestones such as, is it built, is it in transit, etc.

I don’t so much care... don’t care strongly... but I feel like for some reason they’re just playing it a little too safe and not indulging customers’ interest in knowing too much (as far as THEYRE concerned), until they are nearly sure they could call the arrival date at the dealership to within a week or two. Call me crazy. It makes no sense. But my gut tells me they know more, that they sort of gate information by acting like the dealership sales manager is the only person who could know (whether true or not). I haven’t pressed the issue. I don’t really care enough to haha—I’ve waited what nearly 18months? I can wait 2-4 extra weeks lol.

That said, knowing if they are sure of a milestone such as built, in transit, etc, will allow me to report back, and us to know (for shits n giggles).

Called dealer. Sales guy on vacation as I knew. Asked reception to speak to sales manager or someone who can tell me about delivery update. She said she'd get me a call back. I never got a callback.

What you thinking by "figuring out how to sell it to you", like how to deliver bad news about it being delayed?

I certainly didn't ask with any kind of unruliness or pressure. I still have a feeling it's at least got a build date or built and they don't want to say diddly squat for their own stupid (likely inflexible, pointless dealership policy) reasons.

At least I'm already resigned to shrug such a thing off. I kinda "get it" that they must have had their fill of antsy/eager/impatient and all manner of customers who "want their truck yesterday".

Yeah, all good but we’re not winning here. Dealer will do and say anything just to keep us around.

I do email them too but same thing, there is no response from a manager

 

So I got a little update. The ETA has changed from from June 3 - June 13 to May 30 - June 3
The truck is currently in transit to Calgary.
Getting closer.

Very interesting. I sent my VIN to Ryan and my build date was also April 01, 2023. It would be interesting to know if there are build dates that aren't the 1st day of each month.

 

Now, this is interesting. What does the sticker show?

 

It shows "04/23".

 

I am puzzled. All three were built April 1, what are the odds? It would be interesting to hear a story what has happened here.

 

@ryanwgregg Can you shed some light on this? Is it just coincidence that @Mattedfred, @in_the_mud, and I all have April 01 build dates for our Canadian trucks? In the research you’ve done, are you seeing builds for various days each month?

I have my Tundra slated to arrive this July. I don't have a VIN yet but when I do, I hope that you can check dates for me on that. Thank you.

Looks like I am not as lucky as you @Mattedfred and @Ray D were. Can't see myself getting a truck within a given timeframe of May 30 - June 3
Haven't heard from them since last week and they went dead silent. God help me

 

I was debating asking you about this yesterday too. Fingers crossed over here man. hang in there. Can't be forever, but shouldn't be too much longer you'd figure since they moved the date forward recently.. that's always a good sign. Let's see if its just a transport company related delay or something. Keep us posted. I feel like You gotta be the next key-in-hand owner in the thread.

If you're not too far from the dealership, I recommend you stop in and ask your salesperson or the Sales Manager to provide you with the latest update. My salesman pulled up the screenshot like yours above on his computer at his desk so somebody at the dealership can do it for you. Going silent is not cool on their part. I hope you get your truck soon.

Reminds me when I was kid and my parents told me Santa ain't coming if you don't go to bed early and fall asleep. It was difficult to accept but it worked out in the end. I have faith your Tundra will arrive soon.

 

Trust me, I would be there if that was the case but they're 3 hours away so... waiting is all I got.
But I agree I would rather know if there is another delay instead of being left in the dark.
Edit: Just got a call from my salesman. They're still waiting for the truck to arrive, any day now. I think it's safe to assume I won't get it before hump day.
