Overall im actually pleantly surpried. This is a competitive truck, despite GM and Ford dropping some pretty healthy options.

My only complaint is that the 2.4L is not all that impressive in comparison to the Ford/GM 2.7L's. If I want to tow, I am not considering the combined output of the ICE+Electric of the Toyota as a benefit, because realistically it will only output the ICE power majority of the time towing.

So no manual in the pro or trail hunter. Is this the same hybrid setup as the new highlander grand? Isn't that a frontwhell drive with only electric power the rear wheels? I'm hoping they didn't do that to this?

Tin does not rust... therefore I answer NO... However, I think you are trying to say YES?

Love the Tacoma. But when being 6’4 the mid size doesn’t deliver for space. I think mid size truck options are pretty cool. Curious to see the new gen Tacoma though.

Look, it's the tundra everyone wanted. Just half the size it should be.

Trailhunter seems pretty cool aside from those godawful wheels. If I didn't have a camper I may be looking at one.

Anyone else notice max payload is 200lbs under the tundra max?

And it got a black headliner in the pro. Tundra is the red headed stepchild of Toyota

They give the Tacoma wireless setup for tow cameras, but not the Tundra? The truck with only 6,500lbs of tow capacity gets that but not the truck with almost 12,000lbs of tow capacity? Not that I would probably use it, but that makes no sense…

And 1,700lbs+ of payload for the off road model. If that’s true then Toyota really hates the Tundra..lol

This has me VERY excited for the upcoming 4Runner, and new GX.

My Tundra’s days are numbered once the 4R, GX, and Tacoma are all on the road. Will trade it in on something new.

Love the blue sport, I’d get that exact truck. Love the manual transmission and interior. Definitely would get a new Taco.

Sure it does. Ford, Chevy and Dodge owners always have a friend with a Tacoma, for when they need to be towed out of wherever they broke down.

And those floor mats in the PRO look cool. Tire tread through dry lake bed is rad.

Seems like Toyota put more thought into the Tacoma. Be nice to have power tail gate in my Tundra too.

...if I didn't "need" a full size truck, I'd be selling the Tundra/anything after pressing 'Create thread'!

I bought the first year of the 3rd gen Tacoma, aptly named the “turd gen”. I would never buy the first year of a new generation again. Those trucks were plagued by dumb issues, and a new random issue popped up every week on the forum. Not too different from the new tundras, but it felt much worse. I had very few problems with mine, but the anxiety and buyers remorse really soured the experience for me. Short story long, I’m hopeful the new tacomas are problem free, but I’m not holding my breath.

More features than the tundra, 1,700+lbs of payload in the TRD Off-road, more head room than previous gen, tow hooks, etc. It will definitely take some sales away from the Tundra. I’m okay with that. Will make it easier to get a Tundra when the time comes haha

Agreed the 2.4L and the hybrid are both fucking lame. When the 2.7L engines from the competition can churn out 310HP and 430ft-lbs why is Toyota bringing this weak sauce bullshit?

Toyota once again fails to deliver.
