Also just a heads up - because I wish I would have thought about this...
If your truck is equipped with the digital mirror or bed camera, it sits on the top brake light area so my rack/RTT covers it.

I've been through a lot of cheaper/ish commuter cars, but the E46 that I totalled by being a dumbass in heavy commuter traffic is by far the one I miss the most. It was such a joy to drive, right up til I hit the car in front of me and popped the air bags :(

Yeah I drilled custom holes and dropped fat carriage bolts down through the rack as I don’t separate my rack and tent, I just lift them off together

Someone just made a camera relocation kit for the bed view camera and the rear view mirror camera (if equipped), looks pretty good

The GG guy? Yeah I saw that but I really don't want to take apart the truck and mess with wires.

Did you drill through the extrusion bar and the cross bar end?

Yup through it all, used grade 8 hardware and a nylon locknut. I think a 2.5” bolt

    Lots of stuff!
I put the kayaks on a Thule TracRac mounted to my Diamond Back Cover. The rack is a rail mount design but I bolted it my cover and put risers under the rack feet to make it all work out. I cut the Thule down by 7.5" so it sits just above the roof line (you can do this with the Thule then re-tap the holes). It is super strong and could easily hold a tent. I didn't like the price of the yakima adjustable rack. I will be adding some cross bars for the upright bike mounts soon and they will stick out past the kayaks.

The picture shows our 12' kayaks on the rack. They look short on this 6.5' bed!

I use a 2 step foldable ladder to get the kayaks up there! They weigh 50 lbs each but still manageable.

If you decide it's too short and want to get rid of it, PM me :) - The 14" is what I'll be looking for when the time comes, so that I can put a RTT on top and still fit into the parking garage at work.

What rack do you recommend for those of us that use our digital mirror on the daily?

    Quick update on mine
I have the KB VooDoo - Max Modular rack. I originally purchased the top cargo rack for it but in my opinion it was way to small. I ordered the Promax cargo rack that fits perfectly, and is adjustable. One down side is that this cargo rack was not made for the alu-max rack and had to slightly be modified to bolt up to the bedrack.

So I have the mid height uptop overland rack and now after using this rack I've realized I should of gone with the full height one.
Is there anyone wanting to do the opposite and willing to maybe trade?
    Thanks

Can you just swap out the uprights for longer ones?

I'll give uptop a call tomorrow and see if they can do a swap and I'll pay the difference.

We try to encourage people to get taller racks. Quite often customers email us asking to purchase taller legs so they can increase the height of their racks, nobody ever asks to lower it.

I'll be running the 22" VRS on our JT this summer, and the 18" on our Raptor (we are still Tundra shopping, but inventory around us is low).

Yes, if someone needs to change the height of their rack.

These pics show how our new VRS rack mounts to a tonneau cover with built in T-tracks, like the RetraxONE XR.

Got my UpTop Diamondback Truss Rack installed yesterday. It is the mid height one that still allows for the cover to be opened a side at a time. This thing is built like a tank.
