I find the thrill of the hunt fulfilling. I’ve only taken a loss on one crv. Was like $500. Biggest profit was lightning and 2nd TRD pro .

I might be done with the raptor. It’s a wide bitch so we’ll see lol. Only thing I’d trade for is a model y

Did my first real drive in the raptor.

holy. Shit. I don’t care if this unreliable these things are the shit. I feel sorry for folks who passed on a raptor at 78k to by a TRD pro tundra at markup over $80k . This thing is insane

don’t get me wrong the the tundra is great but the TRD pro shouldn’t be compared to the raptor

guees it started this time , then , ha!

just kidding , glad you like it, you’ll sell it in no time anyways

I don’t think anyone compares a pro to a raptor, more of a at4, rebel, etc competitor

the trx is more a raptor fighter

It’s all good now. Apparently if a car sits it goes into battery save mode. I trickled charged and now everything works and it doesn’t go into hibernate.

I think the tundra is great and I know a lot don’t directly compare it to the raptor and that’s true. But I just meant for the price wise, the folks that paid huge plume that made their tundras $80k and above, I would have just done a raptor.

I am going to keep this long term. Only thing I would dump it for is a 23 azure or avalanche color. I plan to take the console apart to put my cupholder and other lighting back in that was deleted from 22+.

I’ll agree with you. 80 grand for a PRO is insane and if you can pull a Raptor at the same price it’s no contest.

I will also admit when TRD pro first came out raptors were still high with markups. Now it’s a little easier to get both at msrp but I still see new markups and used for $80k range and just couldn’t do that.

Glad you got the battery thing straightened out. I’ve had my 23 Raptor for a little over 2 months and it really is next level. It does everything really well..power, feel, looks, comfort and tech. Only real downsides are the width and payload, neither of which are a concern to me. IMO no matter what price for the Pro I would buy the Raptor. Resale on the Raptor (even in normal times and not the anomaly of the past couple years) is the best in class too.

So what makes it the shit ?
    Idk reason I am asking.
Can it really be a daily driver or something reserved for the weekend ?

    ************************************

fwiw - I know I posted this last year but anyway. My sons friend came into our summer place with his older Raptor the one with the original big V8 couple years ago. After arriving he spent what seems like the next two hours walking the trail in pruning branches.
That's a wide truck. So you trust your wife with it ?

To work on my Powerboost my dealer has some method of putting it into deep sleep mode. Disconnecting the battery isn't enough because it'll still run and draw power off the hybrid battery until that depletes. So they put it to sleep to completely kill the juice. When I know they're doing electrical work Fordpass says it cannot connect because the truck is in a deep sleep.

I have to ask them how they initiate the mode where it's safe to do electrical work, because otherwise on the off chance I ever wanted to do anything electrical like add accessories just disconnecting the neg battery terminal isn't enough. I am curious as to whether they simply disconnect the 12v battery then let the hybrid one die or if there is some other trick.

I can’t describe it it’s just an incredible driving experience. Like the throttle response, steering feel and suspension are supreme. The Baja exhaust mode sounds so nice. I know it’s a v6 and the Raptor R sounds way better but it reminds me of being back in the 21 TRD pro. Having a true exhaust note not piped in makes a difference. The ‘R’ button that saves your drive settings is nice. Start/ stop delete so I don’t have to put up with that bs. My only true gripes about it so far are the camera quality isn’t as good as the pro and mirrors don’t reverse tilt down. But I’ve put it into the garage 4 times now without having to adjust so I’ll be fine.

the recaros have incredible bolstering. I don’t move at all. Honestly can’t believe how humble the steering is for how wide and type of truck it is. The steering radius is better than the 22 TRD pro I had, which is mind blowing.

I love the lighting at night, the marker lights are awesome. Honestly makes the TRD pro ones seem so tiny and cartoonish .

it’s surprisingly so damn smooth too. I had a 21 lariat that lurched a lot in the 10 spd and my tundras occasionally had some hesitation and so far this hasn’t. Very seamless. Mpg is bouncing between 13-14 so far . Which ain’t bad considering my Honda pilot I got 14.6 for city miles. Once I add back in the ambient bin and cupholder lights that were deleted it’ll be perfect.

you didn't answer if you are going to let the wife drive it ?
    I don't think I have ever seen a female driving a Raptor.
I think its super cool when you see a female driving older pickups, and the 2500 and up American pickups, and well I include the 2.5 gen tundra in this group of cool too with women drivers.
Now all women drive all the new 1500 pickups - ..not so cool. 8^0

Wife took the raptor to school today to drop the kids off. She said it’s not going anywhere. She backed it in to the garage spot fine first try. Easier to drive, according to her, than the last 2 tundras.
She’s still 50/50 on the blue record for looks but likes the comfort

2022 yes, 2021 not really. But I missed that exhaust sound on the 21 pro. But I’m kinda over it. The raptor exhaust in sport or Baja give me my fix

Sport mode and Baja exhaust mode in the Gen3 Raptor makes you not miss any Tundra. Tuning it (if that’s your thing) even more so.

Braking is the biggest complaint I have for all of these modern trucks, too much mass and power for how poor the braking is. Cornering though I don't understand your concern, these aren't made for Nürburgring.

Do you live on a race track? If a semi truck can handle the roads you drive, I bet your truck can too.

Well, as usual on this forum it boils down to use case. I for one don't live on a race track, so I too handle corners slowly in my truck, so not an issue. But yes, if you drive like a wannabe race car driver, then it sounds like a race car would work better for fast turns and aggressive braking than an over powered truck.

Raptors aren't made for cornering. They're built to do 90 mph over speed bumps in school zones. duh.
