Cuts down glare and heat. Love it.

But, increases attention, not all positive. Know your state and visiting states traffic laws.

To my understanding the stock back windows are “privacy glass” and not actually tinted correct? I want to match my 2 front doors to the back windows. Anyone done this?

I got my fronts matched to the rears. I love the way the truck profile looks with the matching tints and the blacked out pillars. I’m up in Canada and it’s definitely not allowed, but it’s a risk I’m willing to take, cuts down on heat and looks great. Before and after pics.

actually no, I didn’t do the rear windows, they are stock. It’s just the angle of the picture. To be honest, I’m not sure the %, I just told my local shop to match the fronts to the rears.

Same here.... Interesting how light it looks before you see the full truck tinted. Then boom... sexy... I didnt realize how dark the rear was until the truck was tinted.

Coming head on windshield tint is super easy to spot, so would seem to be an easy traffic stop, unless you went really light. I think the windshield is 80% from the factory so is already somewhat tinted, so adding what a tint shop calls “clear” aka 80% on top would bring it down while still being reasonably unsuspicious haha.

I did legal (35%) on all side windows, went 55% On front window and sunroof. This isn’t the worlds best picture but you can kind of see it it’s actually a little bit lighter than what it shows. Looking back I wish I would’ve gone just a hair darker on all the side windows and back window.

I can echo what the posts above say about cutting down on the heat and glare, very glad I did it. I know if I get pulled over it’s probably going to be a ticket but I actually just don’t care. Here in Oregon The only laws they ever enforce are the only ones they want to anyway. The homeless and even the criminals have more rights than anybody. I digress.

I’d cite you 10/10 times here for that.

I’m all for tint, and my truck is certainly darker than the 35% allowed cause I hate the sun. But windshield tint can be super dangerous and even put you on the losing end of a civil lawsuit pretty easily.

I did SunTek Carbon 25% was a perfect match (according to the transmission meter) for the factory rear/back privacy glass. But since you have all the windshield light coming through it gives a bit of an illusion of being lighter than the back when looking at the truck from the outside. From inside it does look the same.

I'm considering doing 50% ceramic tint all around now including 70 or 80% windshield and sunroof. It's getting hot in the south and i think the ceramic heat rejection will be huge.

Wow, you guys really go dark in the tint , I would get pulled over every day if I did that much here, I push it going to 35 on the drivers window, supposed to be max of 50

Went ceramic all around, IIRC went 15% on the sides, rear and pano and 50% up front. Since the rears were already "tinted", the installer color matched them. Haven't noticed any glare issue

Note: the pano cover was open when this pic was taken, it's quite a bit darker with it closed

When I had my '23 Platinum tinted, they checked my percentage on the back windows. 18% and they matched my fronts to that.

In Texas you can go as dark as you want all around , except for the front two, which they limit you to 35%.
That percentage is useless with our heat so going illegal on the tint is extremely common, however Johny law is quick to point out an illegal windshield. Ceramic 85% is a great option to keep down the glare and stay legal on the windshield.

I would have to go look it up. I think it's 15 all around and 50. But I wouldn't bet money.

Like I said to the OP, check your laws and it gets attention, not all positive.

I did clear tint on my previous trucks, but this wasnt necessarily my choice.

Depending on where you are, you may get your chance. I'm hitting roughly 30 states this fall. And I will pay the point free tickets anytime I get one.

Don't misread this, I'm really glad you commented the way you did. People need to read that and understand the risks before making this decision. So excellent call outs.

I run a 75% windshield on the Durango and a 90% or so on the tundra. Helps cut the glare down tremendously. If I did it again on the Durango, I’d go to a 90%. The 75% is to dark at night.

That seems a bit low, I seem to recall my guy saying they were in the 30% range, which makes sense with some of the laws I've been reading up on, but that was several months ago and an insignificant detail, so maybe I'm remembering wrong

Surprisingly, that's one of the details I lucked out on as I wasn't aware of that being different. I was pretty set on blue, but could've wavered to red or grey if the opportunity presented itself, but then after I purchased I came here and saw the threads on the mustache, window moldings and rear bumper and felt like I won the lottery :)

Unless you find an inspection station willing to ignore the Texas state requirements for tint on the front door windows (increasingly unlikely) tinting those on the front door to match your privacy windows will cause you to fail your state inspection. I tried that on a different vehicle here in Texas, failed the inspection and had to remove the tint. That tint was nowhere near as dark as the rear windows on my Tundra.

For those of you with windshield tint, did you have any issues with dash warning lights or other malfunctions? My installer said he doesn’t do them because he is super worried about liquid getting behind the dash and ruining sensitive electronics.

I know a place and a guy to pass the inspection. Not worried about that at all. But thank you for insight
