My wife would definitely be a hazard in anything faster than her 4 speed Corolla...

Mine needs the simple, reliable engine to account for her lead foot as soon as the car is turned on. She definitely gets the engine to its operating temp quick lol

Probably felt like a rocket at the time though!

And now a stock pickup will shave 3+ seconds off that time and still get twice the MPG.

I mean, it all depends on one's perspective. My wife owned a 2012, and then a 2020, Highlander. She loved the 2012 but it had some serious paint issues, so she traded it in on the 2020 Highlander.

She *HATED* the 2020 Highlander...and so did I. Seats were ridiculously uncomfortable, terrible rear visibility, the engine would randomly cut out when passing, etc.

So she traded it in on a 2022 Lunar Rock 4Runner. On paper it's like .5 seconds slower than the Highlander. It *feels* slower than that, due to the way it's geared...I've noticed that if you want it to get up and go you have to *really* step on the gas.

She didn't care, though; it's built solid as HELL, looks great, has as much storage space as her old Highlander, and it'll get her anywhere she wants to go. She absolutely loves the hell out of it....and happy wife happy life. :)

Arnt terrible seats a Toyota feature though?

I feel like, to own a Toyota, you have sacrifice all the actual enjoyment of driving for reliability and resale value. The Tacoma is a great example.

My GX460 is a little better than the 4Runner because of the V8 but its still not great. And the tuning is horrible. The shift points and throttle sensitivity are like driving a wet noodle. Even though it has some power and torque, you really have to work to make it do anything moderately exciting. Good thing VFTuner is supporting it, I've got a tune from YotaWerks ready to flash.

I've always considered my wife a kind of liability when it comes to cars, trucks, stereos, dishwashers, washing machines.... you get the idea.
Hmmm maybe your Hazard word is a better description?

    Hazard ? Risk ? Liability ?

Hazard: something someone that could potentially cause harm.

Risk: the degree of likelihood that harm will be caused

Liability: a person or thing whose presence or behavior is likely to cause embarrassmeet or put one at a disadvantage.

Yeah. Perception. Mine had a 5 no - 4 speed manual.
I could literally smoke the tires with that light rear end, at a touch of gas for what seemed forever.
A 240z beat me in a race one day with my GF in passenger seat.
So being young, I left Chev and have owned probably 7 Z cars after that - including the original G35 coupe, before finally the 993 of xx years.

No, what I mean is that both my wife and I actually had to get chiropractic adjustments after a 10 hour rider in her 2020 Highlander. We've not had to do that with ANY other vehicle.

I dunno. I love the way my Tundra drives. Yes, there are trucks out there that ride better, have more power, etc....but I've owned some of those trucks, and they spent far more time in the shop.

I liked the way my 23 platinum with air suspension drove. My only issues with that truck is the QC (cheap materials and squeaks and pops) , cabin quietness (lack of), and hard seats.

these raptor recaros better be comfy af

    Not exactly. You said

I don't exactly loathe driving my truck. LOL It's a subjective thing.

If the 'driving experience' is #1 for someone, sure, I'd go with another truck; but I don't exactly hate every second I'm driving my truck.

check it out closely to make sure it wasnt rejected for a good reason

but, I will say, my recent 23 build is damn good, way better than the 22 I test drove, its really solid, gaps are aligned perfect, weather stripping looks much improved, etc. dead nuts quiet inside

I took it for a stretch on the interstate today to go to my moms and thats about 75 miles one way, wow is this thing nice, I dont give a shit about MPG but damn if it didnt get 19 even going 70-75 mph and that with on a 100-200 miles on it.

I could never even touch that with my 2016 5.7.

    good luck!!

I never compare Toyota’s hp-torque numbers to other domestic competitors. Toyota’s (peak) numbers have always been typically lower than other makers comparable vehicles.
I compare the longevity and reliability of Toyota drivetrains to the competition. From my experience, I always know who’ll come out on top.

    it’s spot on

But maybe my truck isn’t the best test, as I had a professional body shop work on mine before delivery for color match

Yeah it’s either the bad f150 battery or transport left something on . Still starts and runs but can’t do things in the app and zone lighting etc is in lower save mode

Let me guess. A “new” 2022 Raptor that sat outside on chip hold for a long time after production. A low charged battery wouldn’t be a surprise in that situation.

It might have sat. It was a showroom demo. Was delivered to dealer in January and put 200 miles on it in 5 months
