They'll be due by the time i get tires. & afterwards, i'll request all weights be placed inside the wheels, think platers could mask off around the lugs & hub bore?

professional powdercoating vs thick spraypaint? Ceracoat? Plastidipped? Wrapped? Polished?

also looking for 4 more early steelies for off-road tires.

Are you really committed to those specific wheels? By the time you paid for them to be professionally done, you could find some other Toyota take offs on Marketplace.

Then have them powder coated, it will last the longest.

Powdercoat is fine as long as the edges are properly finished, else water will get inside, and rot things from the inside out. It doesn't have the same structural bond with the substrate as other coatings will, which makes it inferior to other coatings. It's just gotten hyped up in the market by vendors because it's way F'n cheaper. They've done a great job of making people drink the koolaid, while they rake in more profits. Basically, it's bullshit, marketing-driven profit booster. It's not dissimilar from Plastidip in that regard, it's just way harder. Same concept though: You're misting a powder onto metal, then baking it to melt it. Nowhere in that process are you creating a bond between the substrate and coating.

Your best bets for longevity and adhesion are coatings like paint or maybe even cerakote, I haven't worked with the latter. And the color choices above are terrible. Smoked silver would look awesome, and I think gold would too. Trucks in neutral tones (greys, whites, blacks) look awesome with silver, smoke, gold.

PS - polished could be really cool. But if they're alloy, you'll need to carry them into somewhere and have them anodized.

I had those same wheels on my truck initially and I used Plasti Dip to coat them black. I'm not sure what color your going for but here is what they looked like. It held up better than I was expecting.

I’d say sell them to me and go buy some better wheels, but I don’t have a path yet to make my tundra last another few years.

I have those same wheels, and I repainted them to look OEM brand new.

Yours look pretty good, but I’ve found that they can be repainted pretty easily if you’d like them to be the same but newer.

Dip 'em. That way if you don't like the finish you can change it. If they get damaged, your not out the cost of painting. Dip done correctly will last and will be easy to peel when you want to change.

Dunno, but that image just gave me a flashback to Hook-Ups decks from bitd.

Don't do black and white, it looks too pedestrian, like newspaper.

I mean, if you just want colorful pics, here's one I took inside a variety shop in town November last year.

I am not a professional or claim to be one.......... I am cheap and like to try and make things look and work like new again ( that's my line..... most people will just say they dont have the money ... which is me too )

I wanted to have a set of winter wheels / tires for hunting and winter driving to swap out and go back and forth with. ( save the BBS )

For me, I was not sure about the color also so I went this route so that I could change color if I wanted to.

I bought a used set of rims for $80. Really beat up and pitted.
    upload_2023-5-9_9-16-28.jpg

I sand blasted the rims to remove all the clear coat. Then sanded some of the more ruff spots and coated with a rattle can of etching primer. light sanding again on the ruff spots and prime again to help fill in some of the smaller nicks / scratches.
    upload_2023-5-9_9-20-34.jpgupload_2023-5-9_9-23-54.jpg

Then painted with matt black and covered in a matt clear coat.

    upload_2023-5-9_9-29-1.jpgupload_2023-5-9_9-29-43.jpgupload_2023-5-9_9-30-58.jpg

Not perfect in anyway.... but it works and looks good. (OK from 10' away)

    upload_2023-5-9_9-31-39.jpgupload_2023-5-9_9-32-10.jpgupload_2023-5-9_9-32-40.jpgupload_2023-5-9_9-33-45.jpgupload_2023-5-9_9-34-23.jpg

Someone with a better skill set than me could really make these look killer. ( any color you want ) Minus the big match up between the big rock and the one rim this year..... It's been 2 years and they are still 12 foot rims... ( in my mind )
