Sweet, thank you! I don’t have access to a PC at the moment so I’m viewing the website on mobile. Not terrible but not ideal either.

That part # looks right, in my very brief research I found a nearly identical valve for a Camry with a nearly identical number.

That’s the annoying part… the number is on the bottom side, which is the most likely to get rusty, dirty, etc. Especially annoying with the risk of breaking a hose.

Yeah, the compatibility was showing they use that one part on at least 5 diff't vehicle models, and 300+ variations of those models during a 12-year span, so ... it's probably in many other vehicles.

Yeah, it makes me wonder if I could simply look up the part on a bunch of different models until I get the cheapest price… or even just find one for sale that looks identical and throw it in.

Or you could just search the part # once, and find it the cheapest. There's even a filter on Ebay to list starting with the lowest price. That being said, I would never recommend buying the cheapest auto parts. They tend to be garbage and fail in a short amount of time

Sounds like a junkyard trip is in order to search all toyota models that the website claims is on there. Pops, and I bought a whole ass hood for like $35

I’ll look into this. The issue with junkyards around me is frankly, there are none. Closest one to me is a 38 minute drive, and being in the rust belt, there are few 20+ year old cars there that have any parts worth taking.

States are hungry for revenue. They are creatively chasing big dogs (high volume sellers) & hitting them with "estimated" tax past due billing. Anyone who isn't charging you tax will be very soon or will be out of business soon. The tax man is being very aggressive.
But of course we all pay "use tax" to our home state if the vendor didn't tax us - right? :eek2:

That was my thought also, if I didn't already say it. Any time I'm seeing a part is used across a bajillion models, some of which are way more prevalent than mine, I'm hitting Pull-a-part to see if any vehicles in those ranges are sitting on the lot for less than 2-3 weeks. By that time in my area, things are picked of anything of value. Lots of people round here pulling popular parts with the sole intent to resell on fleaBay .

My brother has the same truck I did, a '05 double cab. His has about twice the mileage of mine.

This happened this morning, thankfully in a parking lot and not on the highway.

Probably repairable with just a new LBJ and some bolts including the missing castle nut.

LBJ looks fine though. This is from the front. I see the arm hanging off to the back, looks like the tie rod is still attached. I'm guessing the cotter wasn't reinstalled, fell out, or wasn't installed correctly.

Hard to say with the poor resolution (can’t see if threads are damaged). If the nut just worked it’s way off due to no cotter pin, then yes I agree.

I mean - the tie rod wouldn't be going up to the LBJ if the BJ had snapped on the arm, and clearly it didn't snap on the joint side?

I can see the bellows in the background, I agree the picture is a little weird because of the swabar and its link being all jumbled up in the pic with the tie rod.

    Therein lies the problem, methinks.

I'm hoping so. I told him to have his mechanic go over everything on the front end though, better to address any issues now before another failure.

That was my thought too. Seems odd that it would have been missed.

I live 8+ hours away from my brother, so unfortunately I won't be able to get hands on with this myself. He doesn't wrench on his vehicles beyond basic maintenance but he's got a decent mechanic apparently, so hopefully it'll get addressed properly and without costing him too much.

Oh, my brother also just mentioned that he found the castle nut on the ground. Definitely sounds like the cotter pin came out or was missing.

Lame. With a jack, he could at least get the BJ reinserted and castle nut torqued before towing. It'll be safer to move the truck with everything buttoned up. Will keep from damaging other shit.

I'm not sure what he ended up doing. I think he had it towed to his mechanic though.

Well, Raceline is in my good graces.

I sent them pics of the decal from the reply I'm quoting, through their web chat. They responded by mailing out a heap of new decals. Awesome.

When my blazers lbj came apart the nut had split & the center of the cotter pin was still in its hole. Happened coming out of a rest area on a bridge expansion joint @ 60. Dont touch the brake, downshift and hold right. If it gets rough come to a stop and drag.

i feel like a god since i didnt destroy my junk.
