So I had my ESE shut off today when my truck was at the dealer. What a difference it makes in the cabin having the fake engine sound gone.

You now get to hear the real engine and also the turbos spinning up. Sounds WAY better

I also had them check to see if the ANC ( Active Noise Cancellation ) was turned on and it was NOT, so I had that turned on at the same time.

I was going to get a Carista but it is way over a $100 to get it into Canada, couldnt find anyone with one, or anyone who wanted to share one

I own a ThinktoolPros Scan tool. First mod I did was disable ESE and ANC because I read in posts to do it that way. I almost immediately re-enabled the ANC.

Is there a less expensive tool that can do this. It looks like Carista does not support the Tundra Fen 3 yet.

Carista supports the 3rd Gen. I've disabled my fake sound and the seatbelt reminders

Do all Gen 3's have the fake engine sound piped in?

A good spray gun and thick layer of Noxudol 1600 on the frame made my gen2.5 less noisy than my Volvo ;) I almost don't hear a large knobby AT tires on highway. It is only wife giving recommendations on how I should drive, kids arguing each other, authentic V8 grunt and some wind noise.

I think you hit the mail on the head with what the “cabin noise” is.

The kids 5 minutes into any car ride are at each others throats. It’s remarkable.

Next time at the dealer, tell them to run that gimmick off. Additionally shout to see if some other owner owns a Carista near you and you can do it your self

I own three bidirectional scan tools. As far as lowest cost/value the ThinkDiag X431 Pro is the one I would recommend out of the ones I've used at this price point. https://mythinkcar.com/professional-scanner/19-75-thinkdiag#/47-version-all_software I paid $99 in 2021 and it works with 115 vehicle brands. It has half of the maintenance functions of the others which cost over 10X the price. It works with your smart phone. I tried to connect to the Tundra yesterday, to confirm, but since the last update I wasn't able too. I opened a ticket to get issue resolved. On their website it say's that it can customize Active Noise Control. Which is part of the enhanced engine noise Nowadays if you want to DIY on your own vehicles you need a good Bi-directional scan tool. I'm not a professional mechanic, just advanced DIYer.

Are you using IOS or Android? I find the Android apps tends to connect easier and more stable for these types of apps.

While waiting on the Think techs to fix my IOS version of their software I tried it on an Android tablet. I can confirm that it works on my 2023 Tundra and I was able to reach the menu to disable the enhanced engine sound. It's under "Customization" , "Other".

For some reason Android is way more easier to use, no connection issues whatsoever!
