    Hey all,

Im looking at this tundra -

    https://godriverschoice.com/inventory/2014-toyota-tundra-sr/601584

and I can see that it was, up until recently, a Canadian truck.
Aside from rust, what other issues should I be aware of? could the small dealership have rolled back the odometer or anything? I’m a bit concerned but I’m very interested…

thanks so much for any input

Anyone could have rolled back the odometer. Honestly, with it having been a Canadian truck it would make me more suspect as they have to swap the cluster to a MPH one and if they are dishonest it would be easy to fudge the mileage during the swap.

I just looked at the pics, and the nearly rotted brake calipers and the super shiny black frame don't jive. Highly suspect for shady dealings IMO, but I have trust issues.

It may just need calipers, but I'm super leary.

none of these are questions for the dealership as they could/would just lie to my face though, yeah? They already said it had new brakes all around…..

It may well be that it has brand new pads, but those calipers are sketch.

I'm with @GODZILLA on this. Great looking truck from an appearance perspective and number of miles. Best bet is to have it looked over by an independent mechanic for the miles and potential rust. Truck could go belly up quickly depending on a few things.

Multiple rust sites and no solid pictures underneath has me concerned.
    - Skid Plate
    - Front Tow Hooks
    - L Control Arm
    - Exhaust Tip (normal)
    - Bed: Bolts, Bedliner missing w/ rusted areas, looks like something sat in the bed for a long time causing discoloration
    - Passenger Seat Bolts, wouldn't be surprised if the metal under the vinyl flooring isn't rusted
    - Frame looks shiny as said before, possibly rattle can painted
    - Rotting calibers + roter rust dust

For a $24k, 9 year old basic SR truck, single cab, possible rust concerns, vandalism claim in 2014. KBB for my area (OH) values it at $18k private party. Pass.

Hard pass for 24k. Roll up windows are pretty awesome though.

We have a few car dealerships locally that have main headquarters in the rust belt. They ship out their rust buckets to CO all the time. Paint looks great. Slide underneath and you wonder how it made the trip on a car hauler.

The rust on the passenger seat bracket would concern me. With rubber floors, I can't imagine simple hosing out of the floor would cause that bracket and bolt to have surface rust on it. IMO, it's not worth the 6 hour drive to look at. Especially at that price.

Sorry, I found the VIN in the ad. There is only service history for 1 visit in 2015 and it had 13,000km on it. Otherwise no Toyota dealer maintenance.
