So I wonder if anyone can help me interpret the electrical diagrams. I'm considering purchasing this plug and play footwell kit from VLEDs for the Tacoma (https://www.vleds.com/3g-tacoma-dual-fwk-front.html). Obviously this kit hooks in above the headliner in between the OEM harness and then has its own tap that runs down the A-pillar and then comes on with your map lights.

VLED says they have no plans to make one for the Tundra. I wonder, since 90% of what I need would be in this kit; does anyone think it's worthwhile to purchase the kit, find the appropriate Tundra connectors and then re-pin it myself?

Can anyone help me figure out exactly which harness I would purchase and which wire needs to be tapped so I can just reverse engineer the Tacoma product and use it for my 22 Tundra? I've looked at the electrical diagrams but I am not an electrical engineer and I'm having trouble making sense and finding exactly what I need.

Thanks in advance! I love this group and forum!

Maybe I can help with the wire tap details I learned from my SR5 Double Cab that did not come with the upgraded lighting option. All of the mods were made with things I already had except for the AliExpress purchased 22mm x 22mm pushbutton, ie On-Off or LED labeled switch that replaces an existing blank on the lower left of steering wheel switch bank. Look for the Trip Meter reset switch area. I used this switch for manual control of the new LED's that I added to the footwells. You may not need this switch.

Not wanting to force apart and break the plastic assembly, I found it difficult to get access to the front headliner console connections. So in the back seat is the 'Spot Light' lighting assembly which was much easier. For power to light my new LED's that is controlled by the Interior Lighting circuits, I tapped Pins 1 (ground-minus) and Pin 5 ( positive + ) of the S12 Spot Light assembly as seen in Interior Lighting Section 33 of the Tundra overall circuit diagrams part 5 of schematics sets posted by another gentleman.

I have no opinion on which aftermarket harness would work best for you. Hope that some of this helps!

This is a great start actually. Thank you! I would think the parts department might be able to order an OEM harness connector, no? Will I need any special pinning tools most likely?

IDK about an adapter or using OEM connectors - - I soldered my taps onto the wires, not the connector pins.

I’m not opposed to this. It’s just a tight space to work in up there. And if I ever want to remove tap it’d be a little harder. How can I figure out which wire to tap into??
