To sell or to part out first?

Probably going to end up selling the tundra unfortunately, daughter is getting older and in need of a car and I can’t justify a sitting truck hardly getting used. should I part it out first or sell it with mods? Kind of a weird market right now. What’s your experience? Regrets? Hassle? Not worth the energy? It sucks because I really love these unbreakable 2.5’s… but life goes on lol.

Most buyers like a truck that is mostly unmodified and close to factory as possible. Beautiful truck, I'm sure your heart will break if you let her go..

 

Can’t afford the insurance on it for her and her commute is too far for a gas guzzling beast

Would be a bummer to see it go. Good looking Tundra ya got there! If you decided to part, maybe we could work out a deal for those sliders?

Just sold my heavily modded truck today after a couple weeks on facebook marketplace.

 

When I sold my Jeep I was able to dump everything on FB and it sold pretty quick.
The dealership didn’t seem to care about anything other than the lift.

 

How’d you do as far as recouping money?

 

Yeah when I took mine to the dealer, it didn’t even seem like he noticed anything or care lol

 

I'd sell it as it is. Someone will appreciate the mods and beauty.

 

I was happy with what I got. I may have been able to get a little more by parting it out, but I didn't consider it worth the time or effort.

Yeah that’s where I’m at, especially taking the TRD pro suspension off and putting old back on… seems like the older I get the less motivation I have lol

 

That, plus I sold off all my stock parts when I did my mods, so collecting all the parts needed to get it back to stock would have been a huge hassle and pretty expensive in itself.

 

I part out major stuff and for that reason I hold on to the original parts. On average expect modded parts to sell for 30 to 50% of their purchase price some things can be an exception.

 

Anything extra, take off and sell: sliders, skid plates, tonneau, roof rack, etc.

If you have the stock rims, he sights etc, put them back on.

If you can't see it or don't have the originals, I'd just leave it on and suck up the loss. By the time you do it or pay someone too, it will be a wash in terms of gain/loss.

 

I was also thinking I could do cash and take offs of the wheels and tires/skid plate/ grille… but like some have said it’s investing a lot of time

Carvana offers have been pretty good too. They bought my 2013 2wd 4.6 liter for right at $18K.

 

Cool I’ll check em’ out… Carmax offered me 42k without seeing it… want 46… so maybe I can squeeze 4k out aftermarket stuff on it. 19k on odometer… what are your thoughts?

 

It's worth a try. Carvana is easy as it walks you through it and their offers are good for 7 days if I remember correctly.

 

I'd sell it as is and part out your take offs if the new owner doesn't want them.

Not sure what part of CA you're in, but SoCalTundy did a post regarding concern over dealer price point on a low mileage '21 Pro he was looking at somewhere in CA. If he's still looking for a clean used Gen 2.5 Pro, and your price is right, someone like him might be an ideal candidate for your rig (especially w/the Pro suspension installed, and some of your other upgrades....)

What year is your rig and how many miles are on it????

Also, I think someone else here said your post count was high enough, if so I'd list it here and see how things play out.

The only reason I'd pull your parts off is if you were planning on trading it in or selling it to a dealer... but that's me!!!!
