Kids are doing better. Some have been dropping by with flowers or having them delivered. Keeps the wife in better spirits, I think.

My wife has been laid up now for 4 weeks with a fractured knee cap and other injuries. The girls have been great, they haven't been the normal playful jumping around her because they know she's injured. In fact they have been very docile and supporting her. Her most comfortable place is the lazyboy reclined with a big blanket on it covered up in sheets with her leg propped up.
This gives Honey a nice little den for her to hang out in right up under my wife.

Sugar is missing her play time with Mom also.

So sorry you had to let her go, it is really tough to let them go. Good to hear you have support from friends.

Sean, so sorry for your loss. It is never easy to have to let a fur buddy go. Just know that you provided a good home and lots of love over the years. Here's to many great memories for you and the family.

Yes, Sir, the pups know when one of you is down and something is wrong. Hopefully the Mrs. is recovering and will be back on her feet soon. It is no fun for the pups, you, or her. I spent 6 weeks on crutches at one point and it gets old very quickly.

thanks, we're in week 4, week 2 post surgery. She's still zero weight bearing but she did have her first full shower since this happened last week! amazing what that does for your well being.

I also was quite surprised at how fast muscles in your leg atrophy from non-use. Seemed to happen right before my eyes.

Maverick got his CCL (knee/stifle) surgery Wednesday.
He's strung out on pain meds and doesn't care much for his inflatable collar.
He is doing well, the hardest part is keeping him off the couch and going slow when going outside to potty.

    Drug-induced stinkeye.

    upload_2023-4-16_10-30-9.jpg

Reading him the rehab schedule, it is a good thing he likes being in his kennel.

    upload_2023-4-16_10-30-58.jpg

I'm really surprised he lets me ice the leg down a few times a day.

Our daughter had these made for my wife a couple of Christmases ago.
These are pups that we had since we've been married.
The other 3 had already passed, 1 a few years ago, and the other two 2 years ago.

    Malloy, Maximo, Maverick, and Moxie.

Sorry that I'm late to the game here and sorry for you're loss.

I'm at the 2 week mark from loosing mine. It's just going to hurt for a while, but it gets better.

    Just a little info:
We found an alternative to the post-surgery cone 'collar', although we use an inflatable.
Vet suggested a Lick Sleeve so we bought one.
Maverick is much more comfortable than he was with the inflatable collar.
We take it off when we let him outside to do his business and slip it back on.

Lick Sleeve: Wearable Dog Leg Protection, Sure-fit Design
A little pricey but we can always loan it out to family or friends if they ever need it for a few weeks.
The sleeve can be undone and used as a handle to support a pup that may need help going out to do its business.

    Yea, doodles are lovable.

Our doodles and yorkie-pom kind of overwhelmed her at first, then they all took a break. The pup found some barricade. LOL

We're now 10 weeks deep with this gorgeous Husky. Our adoption was finalized last week! So excited to have her in the family.

QUESTION for y'all with dogs and Tundras!

I wanted to get one of those buckles to tether her leash to the center seatbelt bracket for some added safety from falling all over when idiot drivers cut me off. Has to be the center though -- she goes everywhere with us and I always have my kids in the back. But I've now tried three of these straps (one each from Petco, Amazon, and PetSmart -- all different brands). They ONLY work on the side seatbelts. None of them work on the center seatbelt buckle.

I'd be okay with something that uses the LATCH hooks, or the center seatbelt. But not the sides.

    Any suggestions?
