I,m 71 and don't have much use for a truck anymore. I have 2021 cement SR5with 6650 miles and have a firm offer of $41,600. I have a strong itch for a two seat roadster. Something fun to drive before I croak. I would like your opinion on that price and a recommendation on a two seater. Thanks. And yes I know I'm nuts. Deal expires tomorrow.

2WD for $41.6K??? Take the money and be done with it.

Now. Roadster. You looking to dump $41K into a roadster? If you're thinking of absolutely insane fun factor roadster on a semi-budget I'd be looking for a very well done (and preserved) first generation Mazda Miata.

You could find a decent C5 Corvette for that money, just saying.

I received a mustang convertible for my 50th birthday. Drove the wheels off it! It was a blast!! I was sorry to see it go but I got an offer for it I couldn’t refuse. Enjoy your life!!! Make some memories!!

I’ll give 41.7k right now. Seriously someone is working you. Go to Cars.com and put your info in for 2021 only, model etc. Minimum price is 50k plus if your’s is a 4x4.

$41k does seem a little low, but may be a location thing. $50k seems high as it wasn't a $50k truck new. I bet with some patience, you could eek another 5k out of it.

Regardless, post back when you get your fun car.

Prices are REALLY high right now, and especially for these trucks. $41k sounds low.

I'm in Pa. My price runs out May 2 and there's not a new sports car anywhere. Guess I'm doomed to drive an aircraft carrier for my last days.

Just know that any sports car has low seat position. Sit down and climb out.

Expiration date in a few days, sounds like you got a Carmax or Carsense offer or something like that. They have given me good offers on my last couple sales. Probably because they can turn around and set a non negotiable sale price and not worry about anybody haggling them down.

Let me throw some options out that have always intrigued me, sports cars but not necessarily 2 seat.

How far are you from Carlisle? The Spring show had a few nice cars for sale. The next show is second weekend in June, The GM Nationals.

You can try a bunch of cars to help you decide what you want through the Turo app.
My oldest son has an Audi S5 convertible that he rents on Turo and he’s rented a Mustang GT, a newer Corvette, an Audi S7, among others, using that app.

Just make sure a 2 seater isn't your only car.
The wife has a Lexus Rc350 Fsport (technically has rear seats, but only for tiny people). Super fun car and looks amazing, but i fucking hate that car. In and out is a bitch...i'm 6'2" and make sure you like standing up when butt is on the floor. Doors are really long, so make sure you have a wide spot, and my head barely clears the headliner. We always have to plan to make sure to take the truck if we are going to get anything larger than just groceries (we take the truck more than the lexus).

Thing straight rips though.....40 to about a buck-20 is pretty damn fast.

Maybe sell the truck if you aren't happy with it and buy a C-5 vette and a mid sized suv if you dont need the truck bed.

Sooo many 2 door roadster cars available. Porsche boxster comes to mind right away, I’m sure you could easily find one for 30K. I do prefer a hardtop convertible personably if you want a convertible, but I live in Canada. Miata, gr86, s2000, boxster, z4.. so many options

Haha I have a 2010 IS350 and this is funny to read. Same 3.5 V6 engine, mine has a tune and exhaust/ intake work. A lot of fun to drive. My car has the 6sp trans. I imagine the rc has the 8.. end of 3rd gear I’m doing 100mph no prob.

    I got this last year. It's a Wal-Mart Ferrari.

    It punches above it's weight

Makes good noises all the way up to 8k rpm. Fast enough on the street for most people.
    180+ mph top speed

Can be had for $20-30k with low miles. And they are appreciating in value. You could get all your money back when you sell it.

Uses a lot of gas..same mileage as my 5.7 tundra

Love the little BMW, but I have had 5 Corvettes, 911 Carrera (should have kept that one!) and I'm a few years younger than you but would not give up my Tundra. My friend came over with his new C7 and said lets go for a ride, I put my feet in first and he said your going to dislocate your knee-always butt first then pull your legs in. Nice car and after the ride I had to crawl out and said again nice car but I would never own one. Rent a two seater where you sit on the floor and crawl in and out of and see if it's the car for you. With the low miles on your truck I assume you don't drive much, so crawling in and out for the fun factor may not be a big deal. Also if into to detailing and a very clean car, two seaters are fun to take care of. Been thinking if I ever got rid of the Tundra (need a truck for the ranch), but I have always wanted a Jeep Wrangler. But, to each his own and life is short-enjoy yourself. However, I would rent a two seater the model you want for a week or two before pulling the trigger and purchasing.

In '20 I traded my Crew Max Tundra for a ToyoBaru 86. Hate is too weak a word. I'm 60 now and all I can say is don't go from a big interior to small as a daily. (I'm in a Sequoia & happy as a clam)

I agree 100%, going from a large interior to a cramped car is a downgrade in my mind. I also like metal around me incase I hit a deer or a bad driver hits me. but, I'm also 6'2" and 200 lbs and really don't fit in little cramped cars and don't like squeezing in and out of a vehicle. Heck even traded my Raptor (great truck and fun) for the Tundra, so I can step into the truck as opposed to climbing in and jumping out of the Raptor.

Mustangs and Camaros are hard to beat for the money. They handle really well if you get their track packs. I think its called the 1LE package for the Camaro. And most importantly, they make proper vroom vroom noises with the V8's.

But its not everyone's style. i personally am not a huge fan of how flamboyant they are and, while I respect their performance, I am not sure I would buy one. I am more of a Chevy SS, Pontiac G8, Cadillac CTS-V kinda guy. I've also always wanted a corvette C6 Z06 with the LS7 because it makes amazing noises.

I had a 2.3L Ecoboost Mustang Convertible on Maui for a week and even that thing ripped pretty good.

“Deal expires tomorrow” that’s when I know I’m walking. Nobody puts me on an artificial deadline.

I’m assuming you want new or near new.
And it needs to be “fun to drive“ and it needs to be a two seat roadster. That is a very small number of vehicles.

Used S 2000. A low mileage non-Ragged out example is a national search. Parts are getting hard to find. Upside. Appreciating. Not cheap.

    Lotus Elise …see above.

Miata. This was my answer. I have a 2019. Enjoy the hell out of it. Know if it’s going to be your full-time ride. That’s a different situation. You cannot get golf clubs in it. It is not a freeway car. It is not a fat persons car .at 71 you got to make sure you can get in and out of it. It is loud. It is more fun than you can imagine. It compares very favorably to an S 2000. And it’s way more comfortable than a lotus Elise.

Boxster. You Gotta know what you’re doing when you buy them. And you have to put aside significant money annually to keep it up. It is not a poor man’s car. Budget for catastrophe. Best Porsche made. Fun to drive.sexy badge

Corvette. Sexy, Not as fun as you think. (Opinion) I drove three C7’s before I bought my Miata. Once you slide out of second gear going into third, you are go to prison speed. You cannot explore the car unless you’re on the track you can put golf clubs in it though.

Supra. Not a convertible, worry about BMW reliability. but everything I’ve read it is more reliable than BMW’s other recent offerings …and the Z4….$$$$$$
