I've purchased a set of new BAJA Designs SAE fog lights and would like to use one pair with high beams and the other as fog lights. Has anyone integrated OEM lights to turn on with high beam switch and a step further turn off with the auto dimming feature? I have a 2022 Tundra Pro with it's factory light bar. When I've tested the light to find which wire is controlled with the switch and which is controlled with High Beam, all the wires stay hot or cold regardless of whether the light bar is on or off either from the dash switch or the high beam switch. This has baffled my very nonelectronic oriented brain making me wonder if my new Tundra may differ in computer complexity from my old Willys Jeep and this will not be a simple tie into the correct wire situation. Will this even be possible if I took my Tundra to a professional smarter than myself or is this too complex of an expectation to control my Baja lights with the autodim feature?

There’s a number of threads but our new trucks with higher end lights, like premium lights or pros, utilize a CANBUS system of communication. So it’s a computer signal that triggers all of our lights not simply electricity. So if you want to trigger an aftermarket light with let’s say the high beams, you will need a CANBUS reader. I installed a light bar and instead of just using an add-a-fuse to the fuse box to trigger a relay, on my tundra I had to add a CANBUS reader behind my glovebox that triggers a relay. More work but it can be done if you want to control a light using headlights or running lights.
