Looking at 2021 Tundra with a bit of rust - these are dealer shared pics - would you still consider this or push for a significant discount or walk away? Truck is in PA.
It doesn't look too bad - there's only one photo that is concerning really. Maybe I'm nit picking but the price is at the top of my budget.
It also looks much worse than my 2021 Tacoma - and I live a mile from the beach and drive on the beach with it occasionally.

I really don't see anything concerning in those pictures. I would give it a good coating of fluid film or wool wax if you decide to get it.

Yeah looks like 98% of trucks from the north. Nothing concerning at all. Treat it and drive it. 1-2 years of road salt isn't going to destroy it.

As a general rule, I don’t buy vehicles that have been up north, but that doesn’t look bad at all.

I have a little more surface rust on the welds on my '20 from Northeast Ohio but generally mines similar too.

I would call this a rust-free truck and would not worry about it all.

The only time surface rust (which this isn't in my opinion) irritates me is if I plan on doing a lot of suspension modifications. Then you got to plan for fasteners that won't budge and will have to be cut or sheared off. For the normal driver/car owner, surface rust isn't even a problem.

The rust isn’t concerning at all but has that truck been in an accident? On the last picture is that a frame crack?

Good question @shawn474 not sure but it looks like it could be. Not going for a 3 hour to find out it is.
apparently on car fax there isn’t an accidents reported. Thanks.

For a used 2021, that’s pristine around here. You should see people who use their truck for plowing after a year. haha

Not bad at all. I bought a '20 with same if not a tad more, just the surface rust on the welds, etc. i went at it a few hours with a wire brush on the drill, some rust converter and some undercoat. All good now.

Then any truck you buy will be exposed to salt in one way or another. Unless you’re moving south or west.

@Jaypown yea totally understand. My Tacoma doesn’t look as bad as that truck. I’ll keep an eye out for something I’m willing to deal with. cheers.

For sure. Definitely wait and buy what you’re comfortable with. Nothing worse than always having that in the back of your mind.

This is a defective weld. Whoever did the weld, it was not done right, now the weld seam is corroding from inside. I own two Toyotas and they both have it.

I think they all have it. When I walk by others Tundras, I see the same welding problem over and over again.
