Whatever this forum told me to do
    said another way:
    Folks don't want EV's
    Folks don't want GM EV's
Folks don't like to be forced into a product. (kinds like electric lawn mowers)
    &
Tesla is the only viable EV at the moment.

the big 3 are barely good at ICE vehicles, nobody trusts them to make EV's.

Aside from an occasional Taycan or Mach E....all EV's around here are Tesla.

I think Nissan (like a commenter had mentioned) does spend much more time advertising their EV's instead of producing them. Tesla has this locked down, and virtually does zero advertising.

    Zactly.

Let's look at the Ford Lighting. all that media generated hype...and it shit the bed when it came out. it's dead on the vine as we speak.

    The Hummer EV...same.

Tesla is creating & producing state of the art AFFORDABLE cars - and not a peep.

    amazing times we live in.

    I was pondering this....

    35k ain't bad for:
acceleration performance that beats 90% of cars
acceleration performance that beats 100% of similar priced cars
    extreme efficiency
    cutting edge tech
    decent looks
    near zero maint.
    over the air updates

    Am I allowed to disagree?

    Tacoma starts at 28?

cheapo s-box crappy compact car at 20?

for 35 you can get a minivan with v6 which can do a lot of things a Tesla can’t.

why would any value conscious buyer give two s’s about 0-60 times? As someone who got my share of speeding tickets in my youth who currently lives in fear of the highway patrol giving me another one, why does that matter?

Long term reliability and lower maint as well as safety come into play for sure. Tesla is well ahead on those topics.

my opinion is that this country desperately needs a 25k EV with 200 mile range and solid build quality from a reputable manufacturer. I see 35 as out of reach for many working class people. Shoot, even 20 is out of reach for many looking for a good cheap vehicle.

the hummer is so inefficient it’s a joke. The big 3 tried to fit ‘merica into an EV and it ain’t it.
The lightning would be cool if it wasn’t built cheap and cost a fortune. Mine was $80,065 + tax credit. It was bass model lariat materials that were mismatched and looked and felt like shit. My suspension creaked, frunk didn’t work 100% of the time.
Sold it 3 weeks later for $100k. Never looked back.

I forgot I had the gmc denali ev on reserve too but I think that will be a like a shit as well.

Aside from Tesla Rivian has the potential to be another good ev choice. They just need to start making money so they can produce more. I like the R1S a lot. Here’s one at my pediatrics next to my pilot that was wrapped. I hated the front end on the truck but on the suv it’s nice.

Dont forget about the Mach-E Mustang...

For a well respected EV? Absolutely. Maybe not 10 years ago.

The Tacoma is just that...a Tacoma. Different worlds. I have no desire to ever own a minivan lol. I for one, care about quickness, tech, lifetime brakes, continuous OTA updates, etc. I think Tesla is trying to make a new 3 (IIRC) that would surpass the 200 mile range, and under $30k. (However; Elon will say "soon" and it could be weeks, months, or years.)

Supercharging network is why no one can kill it in sales.

Tesla opening up to universal could save sales from other manufacturers

Their ICE vehicles are cash cows. 20% base price hike + reducing features

I’m old enough to remember the margin Ford was making on the Excursion. If I’m not mistaken, it was the highest gross margin for any vehicle they sold.

And then the Gov stepped in to “help”.

I need that R8 for a work commuter.
It's a 30 min commute and I'm trying to get it down to 8-10 min.
8hrs in the parking lot at work should be plenty of time to cool down for the drive home.

    That was 9 sec?
    How long was the track?
    I have a 20 mile commute.
    What's the math on that?
