I have done searches until my eyes cross but can't find an answer to this.

Has anyone tried to run 295/65/18 Duratracs (or any tire that size) on stock +60 TRD 18" wheel with no lift and no spacer? If so, where did it rub? Did it clear UCA? By how much?

I will change out my front bumper to an Expedition One and also change out the front skid plate to either a TRD Pro or a Bud Built. I plan to beef up the front springs for the extra weight but not for more than 1" of lift so I am calling it stock height. I think these "mods" will deal with where I would rub but really want an answer before I drop $ on a set of Duratracs.

I find lots of guys with close sizes but they all seem to have a lift and rims/spacers. There has to be a guy out there that did this.

I have that tire size but I'm in a pro (+2 over stock). I had no issues until I put a set of spidertrax on. With the spacer I had to remove the front mud flaps.

Cutter, before you put the spacers on how much did you clear the UCA by? Did you flex the suspension before the spacers?

I think I found your truck in my searches and sent you a PM. It might have been on the other site.

Since you are the closest thing to what I want to do, can you see any reason I could not run the 295/65/18? Since I am changing my skid plate to the same as yours and taking off the front flap when I change bumpers, the only difference if the front end being 2" higher.

I never received a PM. I'm not sure exactly how much room I had before but I didn't rub on the UCA. I don't really wheel just for fun. Most of my off-road is getting somewhere for other activities. I had the truck in Moab last summer and didn't rub on a couple of the bad spot. Plenty of flex.
I came direct from the Tacoma to the Pro so I'm not sure I can give you a solid answer on fit. From bouncing around doing my research I think they would but a few inches makes a big difference. Maybe @csuviper can chime in. He seems to know a lot about tire and wheel combos and might be able to give you better info

Max tire sizes for no lift is listed at:
    • 18″ rims: 285/65 R18 – 5/10ths taller and 4/10ths wider than factory. Trimming may be necessary.

Comparison to stock in the image below. It will be close as the tire will be 0.4" closer to the UCA. Measure that distance now to see how close you will be to the UCA and other components. You will have to trim the front plastic and possibly have to do the cab mount chop because of the added radius.

csuviper, thanks for the info. I had found the threads and tools you passed on. According to that info it looks like they will fit with my bumper and skid plate changes but I know in the real world every tire is different. Since it looks like other guys are running 295/65/18 Duratracs on stock +60 rims on TRD PRO's the UCA should clear.

Update: I installed 295/65/18 Duratracs on my stock +60 TRD rims. I have an aftermarket front bumper and a TRD Pro front skid plate. No rubbing anywhere.

How are you liking the tires? Are they quiet as stock? Any negatives? Good in wet?

Not as quiet as stock and like most "offfroad" tires they get louder with age. I usually change them because they get too loud for my taste not because the tread wears out at about 40K. I live in New Orleans so lots of wet driving, no issues there. I ran Duratracs on my last truck. I've got about 140K total on them with both trucks. I will buy them again.

Do you have a leveling kit in to run these? I'm planning on the same but no level or aftermarket bumper

I have 2" on front and stock rear. Exact same stance as TRD PRO.

Do you think the height or bumper played a factor in clearing the UCA or fender rubbing?

Looks great!!! Love the Duratracs. Had them on all my jeeps. I keep getting answers but no one knows for sure. With the 2 inches up front, do you need to do a differential drop to save the cv in the future? Since it's the same height as the Pro now would everything be ok without it?
    Thank you

    @BauerSupreme

I don't have them handy but look up the TRD Pro suspension install instructions from Toyota. They tell you everything you need to do including zero point calibration and aiming the headlights but nothing about a diff drop. I believe Toytec will tell you the same thing.

Thank you very much. Last question. Running the bigger tires what did you have to do computer-wise? Speedometer? Shift points?

No changes. Runs fine and the speedometer is only a little off. If you do the math using the revolutions per mile from stock to new size, you will find a minor change from stock.

The general rule I've heard is you need a diff drop at 2.5" or more lift.

Just read through the instructions quick for the trd pro shock installation from Toyota and it doesn't mention anything about a diff drop. What about an alignment? Necessary after a leveling kit?
