I'm looking to get back into a Tundra. My last two car purchases were BMW where I could order exactly what I want and then wait for it to come.

A local dealership is telling me I can't do that with Toyota. Not only that, but they can't locate a vehicle unless it's in the 5 Toyota Southeast states!?!

Has anyone had any experience? I located one in Phoenix that's exactly what I'm looking for, but that dealership won't ship; so that means a flight and a 30 hour drive back to South Carolina. SMDH

    Here's what I'm looking for:

Limited Double Cap - Ice Cap White - Black Softex
TRD Off Road Package - 4x4
    Moonroof
    Premium Package
    Power Package
    PVM/BSM

If anyone has a contact with a dealership that's more accommodating to orders, I'd love to talk to them!

I may do that. But we don't mind road trips either. I've done the buy, fly, and drive from Dallas, Ft. Lauderdale, and Baltimore area in the past for cars.

Typing that out makes me think I may have a problem.:rofl::rofl:

That sucks. I've gotten spoiled with buying exactly what I want. Even the truck in Phoenix appears to be missing the PVM/BSM. I guess I'm going to have to be very patient or willing to compromise.

I'd put in an order with multiple local dealerships. Then I'd keep looking elsewhere while those dealerships wait for allocations. In a couple months, I'd be surprised if you don't find what you're looking for.

Yeah 4x4. I didn't realize the off road package was available on the 2x4. Edited original post, thanks!

I have to ask... Have you been in the new Double cab? I had a 2018 double cab and planned on buying a new one. After seeing the size of that backseat, there was no way my teenage kid could sit back there, let alone a 200+ lb man. It is much smaller. I ended up with a Crew Cab.

Yeah, I was able to test drive an SR5 double cab. I actually had to get the Crew Cab in my 2019 because of the double cab's limited back seat (and no sunroof). My kids are all grown and out of the house now; plus I've been driving a BMW 430i for the last year plus..talk about no back seat!

I was having a hard time deciding between the Limited Dbl Cab and the Platinum. Once I drove it, there was not much decision anymore. The double cab just drives so much better to me!

That being said, you are 100% correct. The back seat is basically unusable for adults for anything other than clown car style transport.

Do a road trip. I drove mine back from Houston to Seattle. 36 hour drive. But I enjoy road trips.

if you are a big person and run the seat to far back on either side, double cab rear leg room is non existent on the new 3rd gen. worse than the 2nd gen double cabs

That sucks you can’t order one and just have to be happy with what’s close enough. Everything sucks now.

    LOL - You're not wrong!

That being said. I was really down to Ice Cap or Celestial Metallic. Thanks to Sensei's Celestial Platinum I decided to jump on a Celestial that was only 500 miles from home!!!

Sensei's awesome looking truck (I may copy those wheels too!)...

I reserved the exact model you're looking for and it came in a couple of months later. Unlike many others on this forum, I think the DC is a better looking truck. I've had adult passengers in the rear and it's tight but perfect for my needs.

What makes you think a DC drives better?

That's what happened in my case, they found one with the options that I wanted when I used Toyotas "Build your Tundra" in the Dakota's it got sent to Texas and now it's built and being shipped to New England.
Hopefully it'll be here in a couple of weeks.

Yep, both formats are down in size noticeably. I love my Gen2.5 DC and found the CM too big, but I couldn't own a Gen3 DC, would have to be a Crew Max which is just about right IMO.

I just feel like the suspension is tighter, less 'float and roll' in the turns. I felt that way in the previous generation also. The brakes are way more responsive too, but that may be because the crew cab I drove had the hybrid engine (from what I've heard on Youtube reviews).

Maybe just the change in weight/size of the cab rather than the suspension I guess.

its just your mind playing tricks on you.

the double cab only comes in 6.5ft bed (or 8.1 ft bed), so dimensionally exterior wise it will be the same as a crew cab 5.5ft bed.

the difference in cab size will be offset by either the 6.5 ft bed or the 5.5 ft bed.

Maybe, but I felt it on the last gen trucks and again last weekend driving the two back to back. From a guy that likes sporty driving cars, it's a noticeable difference (real or perceived :D).

I would be mindful of the break in period and instructions if you do a road trip immediately after leaving the dealership.

Makes sense to me. It's a lighter truck and potentially stiffer cabin without the pano roof.
