Car looks like a gem. What model, what year?

My back door overlooks the driveway/garage, and that space is where the car always is parked. It catches my eye every time I go out the door.

 

Negative. Shims are to adjust backlash and preload, that's all about setting up the gears. A locker just replaces the diff case, but you've still gotta set up the gears. The locker manufacturers try to make it easier by matching the dimensional specs of the stock setup, it's usually pretty damn close. The gear manufacturers do the same. But even 2 identical trucks off the same assembly line are likely to have slightly different shim packs in the end, because the tolerances are less than 5/1000/inch. The reason why diffs are such an event, is because you have to put it all together, and take it all apart to make a .005" adjustment, several times. All the bearings are press-fit, shims measured with micrometers. Just let me know before saturday morning if you want me to bring the tools for ya. Dial gauge, micro's, etc. Fuck it, if you show up with gears, I'll help you swap em, but you must get an install kit that includes bearings

 

The liquid jugs of MoviPrep is the only thing [edit: my] insurance covers. Trust me. I was told the same about pills the 2nd time, and thought, "AHA! That's the other secret", and I thought I had it down ... I learned about the wipes hack the 1st time, then about the pills hack the 2nd time.

I called in and asked them to switch me up to pills, and they told me my insurance will only pay for the powderkeg not the pills, and it's over $200 out of pocket if they refuse to pay. I wasn't willing to risk it.

I was pushed into getting my 1st procedure in my mid 30s because dad got screened and had some polyps, one or more were precancerous. Made the mistake of telling my doc about it, they ordered me to get my 1st. Once I hit 40, I was told nowadays they want you in every 5 years, this is the "new suggested norm, too many people dying of upper-butthole rot", and fought off a couple years before having my 2nd. Got to slide in between with Cologard, then a third. Doc said things were clear enough between the 3, I can stretch out the next round 7-10 years before the next. I tried not to make a Goatse joke.

Also made same mistake of disclosing my dad's triple bypass to same GP, got booked for a barrage of heart tests that cost me about $1,250 out of pocket and showed nothing, no calcification or buildup, just a small leakback of oxygenated blood into the deoxygenated ventricle.

Let's just say ... I'm not very honest with my GP anymore, cost me way too much money, and I've been casually hunting a new GP since 2021.

But yeah. I wish I could do the pills, I don't mind the procedure, the prep is f'n torture.

Yeah, that was like drinking orange flavored kindergarten paste. It made me feel bloated as hell. I'm lucky and have good veins. Those weirdos get all excited when they see them. That IV stuff made both sets of cheeks feel hot. No feeling of pissing myself though. All in all I'd give it a 5/7. Would hit it again.

 

I had to do both when I was getting hammered w/tests as a kid, after the 1st and 2nd time I passed kidney stones, before it was really established that non-adults could actually get kidney stones. I remember the IV version being really cold going in. They never let me look at the results from either one, which pissed me off.

They dont salt the roads down here. And it had only been offroad once before i got it.

its not perfect, but it aint too bad. Most of the front end is gonna be replaced soon anyway.

 

That thing is a time capsule. lol mine looks like a sunken barge.

 

Nothing to do to be honest. It's high centered on the landing gear. Happens pretty frequently at this establishment since the parking lot drops off quick from the road.

I got a strange bumping noise when I go across a hump or railroad track. I took a gander underneath today and was promptly greeted with a broken leaf spring. The bottom, full length one is in three pieces with one section AWOL. I don't want to install a lift kit on the front end right now. I was leaning towards doing a body lift instead. Truck is a DC. I will probably never put tires on much larger than stock.
I am well versed in breaking leafs apart and changing rear ends.
What say you folks? I know yall can give me fresh thoughts on how to do this..

Holy crawfish baitmister... I just measured the passengers side to determine dimensions.. Looked back and saw that the same leaf spring was broken on that side!!! Did Toyota make springs from the same metal as the rusty ole frame???

 

I think you're missing an overload leaf.

that looks like its been broke for a while.

 

Maybe I'm misunderstanding what you're asking but I would just get new leaf packs. There are plenty of budget friendly options out there that shouldn't lift the rear a lot.

Looking at the other side, I can see where there is not a missing section. The second from the bottom spring is broken and the end has moved forward.

 

I haven't replaced mine yet but I know we've had members go with General and ATS. Another option is Alcan but I think they cost more.

Yeah, that shoulda been a right turn, then go as far in that wrong direction as required, to find a lot large enough to turn that rig around.

Mine has even less rust. Southern trucks, SoCal trucks, Arizona trucks. Super dry weather + ok maintenance.

 

That's what I kind of chuckled about. The parking lot is more than large enough to turn around in.

 

I meant, it looks to me like he was trying to make a left out of that lot. But that if he'd gone out to the right, he'd have been ok... but would need to find another lot in that wrong direction to to turn around and head the direction wanted to go.
