In my last thread I talked about deleting my 6in pro comp disaster of a lift. You guys help me a ton with working out those logistics and it’s going to happen within the next few weeks.

So I’ve narrowed down my selection to either Bilstien 6112 with the 5160rr in the rear

    or

    Eibach stage 2 r

Both options will include a new leaf pack, I think I’m pretty set on the icon rxt leaf pack. I will also add coachbulder shims and shackles to get to my desired 3in lift on front and maybe 1 - 1.25 on the rear.

I’ve never owned a tundra so I have nothing to compare to except a really shitty ride that I have currently so I’m really relying on your guys’ feedback here.

also what UCAs could I get that won’t break the bank? Do I really need to do them right away? Could I get away with a cheaper UCA is it really worth a huge investment?

    thanks guys

u wont need uca right away. just find a good alignment tech. i have the 6112 on top setting with shims, my alignment guy got toe and camber in spec, but caster is out. UCA will fix that, just causes a slight pull which i barely notice. Ive had it on for about a year and havent had any issues. u can prolly find some good used JBA for like 500 on here or marketplace

Saw this thread title and was about to tag @memario1214 but I see he has made an appearance. He will be the best one to help you out.

If you have a 6in lift currently, I would hope that your current UCAs should be fine (since they should already be aftermarket) but if they are stock UCAs you would want to change those since you are wanting 3 inches of lift. I'd do it when installing the suspension components so you aren't have to take shit back off. I'd also go with the Eibachs if the price is close to the Bilsteins, but again I would defer to what Memario recommends. Dude is honest and will give it to you straight, he also has great prices and is easy to work with

I personally would go Eibach over bilsteins with some shims to achieve the lift you are going for in the front but I don't think you can go wrong with either. If you are running stock UCA's you can pick up a pair of SPC control arms on rock auto (re-labeled under dorman) for around $500-although availability may be different based on the year of your truck. Even if you were running stock UCA's, at that height your alignment may just be a bit off, usually nothing noticeable though. I went 3" and never did the UCA's with no real noticeable problem other than a bit of feathering of my tires which just prompts me to rotate them a bit more frequently. I do have the SPC's sitting in my garage though read to install at some point. As far as the rear goes, if you go Icon RXT leaf pack at the lowest setting on those you are looking at 1.75 inches of lift. If you do aftermarket shackles, Toytec sells an adjustable one (1-1.5 inches) and coachbuilder as well sells sets at 0.75, 1.25 and 1.75 inches of lift I believe. So you want to make sure you take the rear lift into account depending upon the look you are going for (level versus rake).

I would either get uca for best alignment OR dont lift them to the max height

so if I did 3in the front and the icon rxt in the rear that would be .75in of rake in the back? That’s more than I’m looking for. I’d be ok with like .25 or .5 at the most

Correct. 3-1 would be just about level. So if you are looking for just about level or a small amount of rake you can get custom leaf springs that gives one inch of lift (which are usually a little over $1k) but will last a long time. Get just some rear shackles (either toytec or CB), Or if your leaf springs need replaced get stock leafs with shackles. There’s also the option of a rear spacer block as well. Point is there are a lot of options to look at. Additionally if you will be carrying a load in the rear consistently that’ll lower the back as well.

I’ve run both. I prefer the ride of the Eibachs but the sportiness of the Bilsteins. You get more body roll with the Eibach’s whenever loaded down, but I think they ride softer. The bilsteins have no problem with the extra load even in the twisties, but they aren’t as smooth. At 50 mph on forest service roads they smooths as buttah though :)

 That sounds like classic digressive damping on the Bilsteins, and the Ironman FCPS are like that too.

Yup. A lot I like about it but it’s not for everyone. Handling happens to be more important to me right now so I’m running the bilsteins right now. But because I’m a glutton for punishment, I have a set of Dobinson MRA adjustables sitting in the box until I figure out how the hey-Bobby they intended me to mount the reservoir… I’m staring at them right now :monocle:

    Good info.

    Can you tell us more?

Are the Bilsteins uncomfortable compared to stock black Tokicos…?

They are firmer, in a very good way. Less brake dive, less body roll, and far, far better handling. Much safer in my opinion. And, can handle off-roading pretty well, too.

@jbradley702 what did you decide to go with? I’m looking at making the same change. I currently have a spacer leveling kit (bought the truck that way) and want to upgrade for the obvious reasons.
