Had the check engine light come, message read a malfunction in the electronic control of the engine, throttle or automatic transmission has been detected. Contact your dealer. let truck come to a stop shut truck off let it sit a couple of minutes restarted and have had no issues since. Looks like this may be an issue with the turbo wastage from some research? 16k on the truck only issue is that I am on a road trip 2300 miles from home. Anyone else have similar issues. is it okay to drive home and have local dealer look at if if it continues?

    thanks in advance.

Had the exact same thing happen to me, dealer said it was the wastegate issue but not to bother coming in unless it happens again. I've put 2000 miles on it since that (currently at around 6200 total) and it hasn't happened since. Were you by chance accelerating quickly? That's how mine happened, i slammed on the gas coming out of a stop sign onto a 55mph road and wanted to just speed up quick and listen to the turbos and maybe only got 2-3 seconds into accelerating before the power cut out, i immediately pulled over into the next parking lot and shut it off for maybe 30 seconds and turned it back on. Hasn't happened since and I've def slammed on the gas in that time as well. Hopefully its just a one time thing for both of us.

    Safe travels!

I just experienced the engine going into limp mode after hard acceleration. Flashing check engine. Is this what you guys experienced or was it just loss of power?

    Lots of stuff!
We you able to sit and restart to see if the check engine light goes away? Or is it stuck in this mode?

Shut it down and restarted and it went away. Made an appointment tomorrow. Saw on another thread it may be the air dam is stuck in the up position. Got it back home and parked it for the night.

I just had this. Nothing happened except the notification, no loss of power or anything. I will call tomorrow but wanted to see other people's experience.

retrax bedcover with rail system for added cargo space with many more to come! lol
Happened to me this past Sunday, 8-5-2023 coming home from vacation in Arkansas back to Texas. Had to gun it to get onto I-30 to clear a semi and truck said, nope! and went into limp mode! I lost all power and it started to idle very rough. Not good, one hour into a 7.5 hour drive! We almost got rear ended due to the crazy traffic on the freeway and the immediate loss of power and momentum. Got it pulled over and it kept idling rough and hard, tried to accelerate and it wouldn't do anything. I killed the engine and let it sit for a few seconds and restarted it and all seemed okay. So I got back on the road and didn't have anymore issues for the remaining 6.5 hours of the drive. I have an appointment with Toyota service this Wednesday for 15K mile reg maintenance and for them to look it up. Either has to be the wastegate for the turbos or the ECM for the throttle control.

I had this issue at about 1000 miles. I'm now at 7500 miles and it hasn't happened again. When I went to the dealer when it initially happened they saw the malfunction happened but could not find any issues. They opened a case on my truck and sent me on my way. The mechanic said could have been possible debris in the turbo waste gate that got stuck for a moment and shot through.

So did they just reset the code?

My concern is that I have a cold air intake and that they will blame it on that.

The computer did not hold the code. It only recorded the incident. They did nothing to my truck besides look at what it logged. I would be surprised if they said anything about a different intake causing an issue like that but don't hold me to it. Unless you had to mess with any sensors

This is ridiculous, period. With the price tag on these vehicles nowadays they should be perfect to say the least. I understand maybe something stupid that got past QC but putting peoples living in danger by going into limp mode on the highway is unacceptable. My wife just bought a 23 RDX and at around 1k miles the dash lit up like a Christmas tree. Her emergency brakes have an issue. No problem at all, just go see your Acura dealer about your emergency brakes that's all, no biggie. This is one reason I lease. Warranty through out ownership and then dump it. If it was good during ownership, perfect. If it was not, then that's the manfs problem then. And after seeing all the crap they have put into the 3rd gen and all new vehicles, good luck to those that like to keep them long term. Reminds me of the geniuses that are working on an electric outboard. That's going to be brilliant, bunch of batteries in a floating tub. At least Toyota is standing behind these issues. Good luck guys.
