Interchange 8in for 14in display?

I installed mine tonight, works awesome. The only issue im currently having is the 4 bolts on top wont fit. I need to find out the size and get some new ones.

UPDATE: You can buy 4 M6 1.0 20mm bolts from hardware store and they fit perfectly.

 

Nice, where did you get your unit? The one ebay seller had like 14 at one point and another listing for 25, I messaged the guy directly and he has no stock now.

This 14" mod blew up this year, pretty happy to tell all those naysayers who kept telling me I bought the wrong trim lol, not possible and radio/head unit is like 3k+

There is no volume knob, read the entire thread ppl use the steering wheel

But let me correct myself, the capacitive buttons for the volume doesn't work? How are 14 inch owners changing volume from the screen?

 

I got the screen from ebay, it was simple plug and play...took about 30 min. You change the volume via the steering wheel. Everything works as it should, you just don't have a dial on the dash. The screen makes a HUGE difference, I like it even more than I thought I would

 

Oh, I assumed owners with the factory installed 14" screen had a volume knob and/or someway to change the volume from the screen like a volume slider. I don't see the volume control as an issue at all then since it's no different from factory installed setup. Thanks for going through the trouble to confirm everything. I'm going to set an alert on Ebay for an affordable 14" inch screen.

EDIT: I see that the volume knob is separate from the 14 inch screen on factory model.

 

@Newtonfb Do you know what's the difference between 861000C440 and 861000C361? They're both non-JBL and made in Mexico.

 

Well I tell you what the dealer swapped mine for a newer 14in and it got blacklisted and now they're really quiet lol didn't even want to be the guinea pig but here we are. Navigation doesn't work can't even sign into my profile sometimes the screen just goes black and yeah lol love my truck tho

 

Weird. I use Android Auto at all times so it doesnt effect me. I would never pay for Navigation. I also dont care about profiles since I have manual seats so nothing needs to load up for me. I couldnt be happier.

 

Not off the top of my head. I remember I was looking for 361 and 360 because they were non-jbl and the only difference between them was one was made in Canada and the other was Mexico.

 

Yeah I don't use navigation either but still nice to have on a 4 month old truck you know lol but the seats are weird for some reason the truck remembers the seat position the porter used when I went to go pick it up and when the screen goes dark it'll adjust to her position which while driving catches my thigh and starts compressing my damn bones lol but it's only done it twice so far.

 

Ya its odd. The only way it connects to Toyota is for the Profiles since everything else is done through the car itself like Remote Start and the fob. Did you also do a Factory Reset? Disconnect Battery? Wouldn't hurt to try if you didn't.

 

disconnected the battery but haven't done a reset yet I'll try it during lunch see what happens.

 

Just for future reference for anyone doing this .....you'll need to replace 4 bolts on the top because the ones from the 8in unit are too short. You'll need to get 4 M6 1.0 20mm bolts from hardware store and they fit perfectly.

 

I don't know how yeroelecomm (ebay seller) is getting all these 14" displays, but I just ordered one when it became available again for $720

I did! But ended up purchasing a unit from AliExpress instead since it seems like that’s where it’s sourced from anyways and it was cheaper, had a better CPU and more RAM and storage through there. Will post a full write-up in a couple of weeks when I have more time.

So far, it works great. Wireless CarPlay works well. Factory reverse cam doesn’t work, but they sent 4 cameras to install a 360 cam system which works well. They said they’d ship out a harness to fix the factory reverse cam, but I probably won’t use it (since I’ll be using the 360 pano cams). Only installed the front and rear cameras for now because I’m dreading wiring through the mirrors. Only thing I wasn’t happy with was that they forgot to send the plastic vent covers, so probably have to wait 4-6 weeks to get that shipped out to me.

 

where did you install the aftermarket rear camera? I was interested in the unit from Aliexpress, but I was worried certain things wouldn't be compatible. Does remote start through the app still work?

 

Installed it on my license plate. And remote start from my key works. I’m not sure about from the app since my subscription already ended.

 

where do you see 14" for $720? I see cracked screen for $860. All 14" otherwise been for $1300-1400 from him.

That one has the damage on the screen. Hence why it’s discounted. It would be a good deal if it wasn’t. If plastidip those chrome to match the black interior

How are they listing these as "NEW"? There's no way with the price, plus they show you all the scratches. Anyway. Have we all decieded that it is "Plug and Play" or are there still problems? Thanks.

 

This is plug and play, I have seen at least 7 or more successful ppl posting about it.

I'm not sure what your talking about the used one is listed as used, ask the other owners if the units they got listed as new are new or not? My guess is someone woulda bitched about it being incorrectly listed as new/old

Ppl last year just kept telling me I bought wrong trim and the cost of upgrading the screen and seats are gonna be like 10k+, I kept arguing that vehicles get totaled daily and nobody really buys brand new OEM MSRP prices for mods.

 

I think if I do this, I’ll go aftermarket route. Anyone successful or have tried it yet!? Plug n play?

 

I'm definetely with you man. I couldn't see spending all that extra on some upgrades. I wanted the color combo more than the accessories. Now I'll just choose what to add. I like the 14" screen so that will probably be my next upgrade. When I click on that eBay link, this is what I get and it says New:

 

I'm still a bit confused. A few members with an OEM screen swap and a few aftermarket swaps. Starting with the OEM swap...There's been talks of blacklisting screens, which none of us want. Any tangible evidence to support this or the why? I also spoke with my original dealer, but they told me it's not an avaliable option. For the few that completed the aftermarket swap, has it been difficult to get the a/c inserts? All that said, are there any benefits from doing aftermarket vs OEM? All things being equal with screen size and lose Toyota connect.
