Here ya go! We love this tree, for about three weeks out of the year. Super pretty for a week in the spring, and another week or two in the fall. Otherwise? Huge pain.

We’re not sure how old ours is, but it’s likely 80+ as most of the trees in our area were planted not long after these houses were built, in the 1920s.

is that one of those fiats that has that wonky swing axle rear suspension? Had to pass on one because i was worried about some of the hilly roads out here, and i aint got no sense, i'd have gone way too fast.

Idk, with lumber prices, that probably was the smart move. : )

Yup, it’s got the 4 link rear, all of the 124 Spiders did. Thing corners like it’s on rails.

Maybe it was pre 67 or whatever, but the one i looked at had a dedion axle or something that changed caster per travel. Might've been a triumph...i was set on an old euro roadster. I looked at a few, but the right bike showed up at the right time for the right price. And motorcycle insurance is cheaper.

Ah. That sounds more Triumph to me, but I barely know anything about them. I looked at a couple triumphs, an MG, and a few other cars before settling on the Fiat. I’m glad I did, these things are awesome.

Standard sized or oversized? Oversized, I have yet to see anyone install something that looks remotely natural, and doesn't require silicone.

And to nuke that damn skunk!

@Casper421 I went to color matched and heated OEM mirrors (still need to hook up the heat kit) and I think it looks a bunch nicer than the chrome ones. And they aren't even all that clean tbh.

What you have there is a SC/APC Connector All SC/APC's are green in color, that's what ID's them, a UPC, unangled are Blue. It is a type of fiber connector that minimizes back reflection due to a 5° to 15° angle-polish applied to end faces. While it will plug into a SC connector, due to the angle it will provide poor transmission of light. A SC/APC can be hand made, I've made many of them, been a certified fiber guy since the 90's. Any questions, be glad to assist if needed

That's a Fujikura 70 S, I have used that unit. Good splicer. Last big job I did at ABC was using a Fujikura 90S.
That thing rocked. I've always enjoyed fiber work... it's relaxing to me!

Wife's 2019 Navigator broke down today. Have been waiting on the dealership to change the faulty valve cover that's on backorder. What do you know, oil spray took out the alternator finally today. New alternator from the stealer is 1200, and online OEM is 750. Rockauto has an off brand for 400ish if I want to wait. Local rebuilder said it would be 250-300ish, but wasn't sure my core would be good and does not have any extra parts for it. Said F it and bought one from a salvage yard for 80 bucks, I'll go pick it up tomorrow. Look at this hell mess where the alternator was:

Bought the Navigator last summer, it's a 2019 and 50k miles on it. This thing has been a total POS. Really leaned on my wife to get a land cruiser or lx570 instead, and she would not budge because of "looks". Had the timing chain clatter so had that fixed under warranty. Stealer did not reconnect a coolant hose so it broke down and was towed back the day I picked it up. Started leaking again and overheated a week later, they messed some coolant hoses up while working on it. Stuff not fixed yet that is wrong with it:

-Valve cover leaks- will be replaced under warranty
    -Alternator went out- My dime
-Rear shock blown out- has fancy adaptive system. Parts alone 1k and will have to pay labor for install still. My dime.
-AC is low on refrigerant- will be my dime

The final cherry on top is the transmission is shifting funny and slamming into gear sometimes. After some research these transmissions like to grenade before 100k miles. Transmission was a joint venture project with Chevy (FML). I have never paid for a warranty before but am pulling the trigger on one after I get this list done. Moral of the story is do not buy a new Navigator!

Moms qx80 had the starter binding, it wouldnt turn the engine enough to start everytime, but got it started, took it to the dealer and got her a loaner, said the starter wont be available for over a month. The first loaner was chock full of maintenance lights, so she got a different loaner. I'd have done it if they'd asked, but luckily that all went down while i was in pasadena.

Toyota really needs to hire better industrial designers for it's vehicles who actually work WITH the engineers. With the latest generation of vehicles, either they have no clue what actually looks good or they came late into the process of designing around an already engineered vehicle. Seems like a combination of the two.

haha! None taken bud. She hasn’t said as much, but it’s hard to get around. She said she wanted something different and didn’t want to be breaking down. Told her it was too late for that, I’m not going to take the 15-20k hit. Then I made her make me a sandwich… but not really.

Finally filed my taxes with 8 hours to go. Got a nice deposit of almost $6K coming back to me from the Feds.

Now what to spend it on?

Since the stealership has on record that the valve cover was bad, and hadn’t been replaced due to their discrepancies, which they were well aware of; you don’t think you could hold them responsible huh? Or at least pay for half of the alternator and labor cost? That’s fukt up. Some stealerships wont release a car back to the owner once they’ve verified a failing part that will either cause further damage or deem the vehicle unsafe to travel in. :notsure:I guess what’s done is done if you already bought another alternator and have a mechanic lined up, but that’s shitty brotha. Like a swift kick in the gonads
    :duh:

The reason they won’t release cars like that, is for liability reasons. Which would lead one to believe that they are indeed liable. Maybe?

The term "stinkin lincoln" exists for a reason. She just found out the hard way why that is. It's all Ford at the end of the day.

The missus and I keep separate bank accounts and funnel into a joint account to cover all shared expenses etc. In a case like this, I'd be making her pay out of her own.

I don't mind buying her consumables like tires, changing her oil, other routine maintenance. Something like this would irk me.

New 1GT from down here with a clean frame?
