What have you done to your 1st gen Tundra today?

I had some of that today. Was doing a compound bend on rectangle tube and started my second turn in the wrong direction. And I looked at it a lot before blowing it. Oh well…

 

I’ve triple checked things, and still messed up.

Forgot to mention this before, but if you're going for around 2" of lift in the rear, stock shocks from a turd would be perfect for you. Compressed length is right around 2" longer, and they have around 9.5" of travel versus your 8" now. Same mounts top and bottom. I know this because I have the rear shocks from squatting pigeons '19 on my truck, and they've been great. Not sure but you could probably find em for cheap if not free. I saw mine on the pay it forward thread and just paid the $20 for shipping

 

Yes.... I know. Forgot to mention I also changed my rear brake shoes while I had the wheels off. Had it not been for that, I could probably pull off a diff swap in 2 hours. I really only wanted to do it 1 time.

 

Yeah, but are they going to be valved as nicely as the Fox 2.0s? I mean, yeah I could go buy some 2nd gen 2.5" resis off the shelf too and maybe make it work.

Prior to the work, I've got some serious squat right now, more than I thought. Almost ashamed of how little up travel I had. I'll reveal the numbers once I know what the springs do

The shit-tec shocks I had in the rear for most of my wheeling miles before trying billies had an inch more travel than these Foxes I think? But they were dealing with the squat. I liked the valving on those compared to Billy 5100s.

 

One thing is for sure. The DC wants more of everything in the rear.

 

In an effort to straighten out my crinkled bedside, I cut it loose from the bed where it was spot-welded along the outer edge of the well. Did some failing at body work, and then reattached the bedside, but with spacers. Basically pushing out the bedsides 2" over the wheels. DIY flared bedsides. And did the same to the non-crinkled side. I will eventually remove the spacers and install a strip of sheetmetal to make it solid and close it up. I like it tho. I know this would be a good time to post pics, but I didn't take any yet.

strip of foam tape down the back to keep it from rattling, duct tape for a little extra friction for the mount & to keep the pin from rattling out, and a little stainless strap to keep my knucklehead from knocking it out of the mount, but can easily be overpowered. Packed my first aid bag to the brim. I can even do makeshift stitches.

i ordered doggles. Hopefully they fit, cause i was either gonna pay $7 for shipping or buy $9 doggles when i ordered his new leash.

i cant imagine a 120lb chick taking the kinda poos he does.

 

Starting to do some much needed maintenance. I did front brakes, both pads and rotors as I was getting a pretty bad pulsation when I was braking from highway speeds. Initially inspected all brakes and found that the fronts were pretty low at around 3mm so figured they were in need of replacement. Rear drums had tons of life left in them so that was a relief.

Also did front sway bar end links.. although I should have waited to do those as I plan to do a levelling kit and I hope the stock ones dont cause any issues with it.

 

I'd put in one the extender brackets since you're lifted. Made a difference on mine.

 

I'm not lifted in the rear. ICON AAL was a huge flop. I'll buy that once I get new leaf packs.

 

This didn't hold up to my type of abuse unfortunately, I'd suggest DIYing it out of something thick if you're planning to wheel

Or do a manual valve conversion.

 

Agreed, I had to double up on mine for that reason

 

Working on this mini headache bar for the rack. I prefer to not create a missile out of the water tank.

 

So the truck is sitting on the springs and it looks like I've netted a hair more than 2-1/4" of lift at the hub and axle to frame. Expect it to settle a little bit when I was driving. My hitch is 4" higher now. Limit straps might be necessary if they don't settle much.

I also don't have my second spare on, or the spare tire carrier I bought today so that's more weight.

Truck is stinkbugging now which I prefer over sag, but I might need to adjust the fronts.
