I did get to test drive it, but unfortunately he got into a fender bender the next day and decided to not sell it for the time being. Needed some work but it was a decent tundra before. PM me if you want my honest thoughts on it

That's a shame! If I wasn't in TX I might still consider it (still have family in 619) but, something also tells me there is more too it haha.

    https://austin.craigslist.org/ctd/d/austin-2005-toyota-tundra-limited-4x4/7608211892.html

Was about to make an offer, checked the Carfax and it's a total loss haha. Aside from the color, it's all the options I want!

Dang. I was wondering why that one has been for sale for so long.

This one’s not bad looking, a little expensive maybe:

Seems like that dealer always has nice vehicles but they all have title issues. Patience is a virtue, these tundras really are unicorns!

Seems a bit on the cheaper side...? :confused:I am working with a guy on FB that has an 06, well-built SR5 in GA with around 70k but, he's asking over 25 for it. He wants to recoup his 7k invested (considering the parts, he paid for labor). Seems hard to justify.

Found this gem the other day for anyone looking for an AC

Took me essentially all of 2022 searching only Craigslist (I don't use other sites that probably have lots of trucks like FB Marketplace, etc.), bought mine in January 2023...but I travel a lot for work so missed a lot of good trucks, some of which were also good deals. My search radius is essentially all of Texas, some OK, some LA. If you search more sites and are diligent in "checking your traps" a few times per day, you should find something in a few months. Then again, I'm in Texas where rust-free trucks are the default; since you're in New York, it may take you longer and/or require some travel on your part to find a rust-free one (a guy was flying in from Arizona to look at the one I got a cashier's check for, drove three hours one way to see, and then bought--sorry if that was one of you guys!). I always texted sellers and asked them for photos of the spare tire/area, engine bay, and front suspension to get an idea on frame rust; those aren't the worst areas but give you some idea.

Here is what CL shows my search criteria as:
1st Gen Tundras cars & trucks (austin, TX)
drive: 4wd, make and model: Tundra, bundle duplicates, max odometer: 150000, max model year: 2006, min model year: 1999, search terms: Toyota, include nearby, sort: relevant

You could update the area/region to something near you and save that search as your own.

Going on about 2 years now. I have had the opportunity to buy a few but I'd prefer only to spend shipping on my top pick trim/color. I was also looking for an AC for a part of that. It has been so long I found an 08 v8 4runner limited just to pass the time. In my experience, there are a lot more vehicles for sale in your area and the surrounding rust belt states. If you have a chance to see it in person and you think its clean I'd jump on it. The last one I missed was at a dealership in Marin county CA. 100k miles and looks beautiful! Hang in there man!!

@Mohoman I had that same year and engine 4runner. I should've never sold it.

I looked at a Tundra yesterday at a buy here pay here dealer, the first look under at the frame under the back of the cab and it had a 4 inch crack in the frame.

I'd love to find one in the DC area or south and a I would fly and drive.

Sadly, I'm used to west coast prices, but not the east coast rust.

Got referred to this thread since I am on the hunt. Glad to have some company! I broadened my CL search and found this outside of Little Rock. It's basically the truck I want but with slightly higher mileage than preferred. Also its a 2004, so no VVTI. Which brings me to a question - what is the general consensus on the 4.7 with the VVTI and the 4.7 without it? If it matters, I'll likely drive this truck 20% highway, 60% 45 mph roads, 20% city. Some towing maybe, but not a ton.

There is definitely scaling on that frame. 17 for that is way too high. I am in central TX (prices are consistent with west coast). Toyota Marin just had one SR5 with 100k for 19. Id hold off but then again, you are my competition!!:rofl:

Thanks, Mohoman. I was a few hours behind on that Marin County. It went fast! But there is strength in numbers. I'll keep sharing leads if you will.

@Mohoman maybe post a thread requisition if anyone in the area could take a look. I know if it was by me I would do it.
