I just called to order but it was too good to be true . The guy didn’t really wanna check the price saying no Toyota charges more or less the others but I got him to do it anyway lol .
637$ for per tailight for my truck US currency witch are dollar is 1.25 Canadian for every US dollar witch turns it into $796 then you add tax brings us to $836 then shipping 900$ per light

I don’t think most Americans realize how good they have it when it comes to purchasing “stuff” compared to the rest of the world. It’s certainly a shock to me. Everything is an order of magnitude more expensive and taxed to the high heavens in Canada.

That sucks. What's your plan for filling the gap to prevent new lights from being damaged?

yeah, 2 taxes on a single purchase depending on what it is or if it breaks a certain cost threshold.

GST and some other tax for our .ca folks. i remember back in the 90's visiting regina going out to eat and looking at the bill and seeing 2 different taxes being applied.

Kickbacks . Should have had them to begin with but I’ve driven many trucks with no flaps and haven’t had that problem as you don’t usually see it being open to the tires

    Lots of stuff!
If you add something to protect the bottom of the light, I would suggest that you put the protection on the section of light that hides in the fender. Avoid filling the fender with foam as it trap road salt and moisture and rot out the fenders in no time (another warranty claim that Toyota would deny). I would bend up some light gauge sheet metal and use caulking to glue it to the light bottoms. I have some stainless sheet metal and also pre-finished flashing material that I would use along with a non harding caulking. The rocks would just bounce off this protection.

yes there all the same as that but remove the tail light and your gonna see a direct line of fire from taillight to tire .
I’m not running those smooth tires I have Nitto trail Grapplers with huge lugs and a 3” lift . I’m also running bushwhacker fender flares

There is a sizeable gap on the inside between the fender liner and frame.

I can see a rock flying past the liner and bouncing around in the fender.

Take off your taillight and look at your tire then notice all the splash on the back of tail lights .
If your mud flaps are still on you should be fine

My rear flaps are still on but I might add a piece of hard plastic or sheet metal to close that inner gap. No need to get all the road crap back there.

i would say if none of the led's are burnt out on OP's light, (didn't specify what the failure is, i looked)
blow them out with compressed air, either let them sit out on a nice sunny day, or maybe turn your oven on like 200 deg and bake em?
then i would just take and cut up a piece of plastic and 2 part epoxy / silicone it to the hole

When I took apart to asses the problem There was a hole from rocks on each of the light, and they were filled with water . The first thing I did was try to dry them out buy bring them in for a day and putting by a heater . It’s been weeks I’m waiting for them to release after markets so I don’t get hosed by Toyota
