2000 Tundra, Installed 1.5" Torch Rear Leaf Lift, got 2.5"?

So i installed this rear leaf kit by torch suppose to add 1.5" but I got 2.5"
Now im concerned if too much angle on driveshaft. I tested it. Little more shake in the rear , the driveshaft fell off while i installing so had to reattach . The axle was loose so it could not be mounted straight amd could be causing the noise i hear a little from the driveshaft towards the front.

Is this normal? Should i be ok once i get a realignment done on rear axle as it could not be perfectly inline ?

No alignment for the rear. Couple of things on the lift amount, factory spring pack could’ve been sagging pretty bad with the paw cap. Also I know the icon add a leaf says to remove the factory overload spring.

 

This kit says shim then overload flat spring then add a leaf then place factory pack on top. Guess it must have been saggy?

I will wait for bumpstops i ordered as mine were not there and torque the ubolts as i have yet to do that, waiting on 6" socket .

Just now figure out how my driveshaft was on, to get it back in balance.

 

If the center pins are where they’re supposed to be seated you’re good to go. Adding lift will always pull more of the shaft out as you're increasing the distance from the axle to the yoke with the lift. That minor lift will cause no issue.

 

you have to time the shaft. It balances a certain way.

 

I'm wondering what it looks like on level ground. It looks like your driveway has a decent slope to it. Your rig tilted down will unload the rear, to an extent. I wonder how they is effecting your stance. Also, I'd bet the leaf will settle some.

 

As mentioned above the 1.5" is above stock height, if you were sagging at all before it will seem like you got more lift but it will settle some for sure. Don't forget to trim the center pin and put your bump stops back on.

 

I better order some. It never had any bump stops in the back. Never bottomed the back out. The front does if i hit a dip too fast off road.

Ill get a pic with numbers where it sits.
Waiting for the 6" long 22mm to tighten my ubolts all the way as my regular deep socket only went so far.

 

Stock height Axle to frame is 9.5” anything above that would be your lift height

 

Know where to get rear bump stops? Found a oem set for 75$ shipped unless a universal one works?
If anyone knows info on which ones would work or reccomend.

Thanks, so i would have to unbolt the u bolts to install this?

 

I think this may be my issue. At take off i can hear the bed rattle a little so i think when the shaft fell off becuase the axle slid off the jack when installing the new leaf, when i bolted the shaft back on , may have not been the original position.

To fix this , do i unbolt the shaft & turn it 180 degrees and bolt back on?

Yep, you will have to trim that center pin down as well

 

Thanks just ordered a pair, crazy how they were never there, and it looks like it suppose to keep the ubolts in track , provably been having movmement this whole time.

Will feel better once installed,
Now just have to figure out how my driveshaft goes back in line to be balanced as it fell out during install >.>

They tend to just rot off on these trucks. Seen it a few times.

To me, it looks like the overload spring is the issue. But if you remove that, don't be surprised if you only get .5" lift.

I went with ICON's add a leaf. I removed the overload spring per their instructions and got zero lift. The only thing it helped with is payload. When I'm loaded down now I don't sag as bad.

 

This kit keeps the overload spring per torch instructions.
Having a hard time finding rear bump stops. My order got canceled from toyotaparts as they say its discontinued.

Now not sure where to get one. Maybe its not needed. Unless i can get lucky at a junk yard perhaps.

Figure its probably better to have them then not. Havent had them since, but figure they serve a purpose of keeping the u bolts in 1 place . Never bottomed out the back.

 

Here's what mine look like. I probably spent too much but ordered some Timbren Active rear bump stops and new u-bolts.

 

They have these things but cant see spending 250 on rear bumpstops when i never bottomed out the rear probably even more so with more lift than before.

Id rather spend that money on front ones as thats where i bottom out. Maybe i just need bigger boy coilovers than 5100 and dobisons to not bottom out as much offroading.

 

I have these. When loaded down I hit the OEM bumpstops once or twice and didn't care for that feeling at all. These engage much nicer. But yeah, you make a good argument.

I also vote for bigger boy coilovers AND some nice Timbren ABSTOF bumps in the front. They compliment the coilovers well IMO.
