I really have no clue. There's a reason I'm a console gamer. I don't know shit about computers.

@shifty` , the current plan is 3” gravel and 3/4 minus after rough grading to make two side by side parking spots. Then a fence.

The guy we lined up doesn’t want to start till things dry out so my wife re-tasked him for master bathroom work. She seems to think she can pay for it. So I will wait for a chance.

Wood chips are helping with the lower mud pit but aren’t a permanent solution it would seem.

I really wanna get going on those door latches.

Or gravel, @daveesa, unless there's some b.s. HOA rule that prohibits gravel but allows wood chips.

Haven’t asked for permission on anything, not super worried about the HOA (my wife will manage that) but more worried about not doing things my wife hasn’t approved.

City apparently may need a permit for a slab but not for gravel. So I’m told. Rough grading and some bush removal are key next steps. Lots of usable space just not sloped well at all.

Good little computer for learning about sprite collisions in Basic but the speech synthesizer was the really cool accessory to have.

Got a weekend off somehow and towed the RZR about an hour away to an offroad park. Truck did alright, could definitely tell it was back there through the windy roads and hills. Not any worse than I expected though. (I like to live in the moment too much and forget to take pics)

Only "side by side" casualty of the trip was my rad cap taking a shit on our last outing of the day. Pushed my coolant into the expansion tank and out through the lid of it. New rad cap for a 2000 Altima fits well, just gotta see if it performs well.

Pretty sure my Asin timing belt kit from Amazon or eBay (I can't remember which) was a counterfeit because the water pump started leaking after 45k miles. But it's all been replaced since then.

Huh, I was going to say she looked like my dear friend, Mandy. What kind of maniac names their daughter Facebook?

That's all fun and games until you hafta dig into the ground later, and need an excavator.

Hell yeah, bro! Hoping for the best this go-round. That said, some wisdom to impart because it rang true for me when someone my elder shared with me...

Former manager of mine, back in the late 90s/early 2ks, told me something worthwhile when I was your age. I mentioned to her my ex was basically batshit crazy, and I was having a hell of a time trying to find someone for me that wasn't a total nutbag. To which she replied, "J, you gotta understand, everyone is nuts. We're all neurotic in some way or another. If you keep hunting for someone who isn't nuts, you'll never settle down. You just need to find someone whose neuroses 'fit' with yours, or complement each others' in a positive way. If you see conflict, it means things aren't fitting, move on".

I just chalked her words up to a pep talk. In hindsight, when I look back on all the women I dated after that chat, she was 100% right. I know I'm neurotic in my own way. My wife is too, very few men she dated prior to us hooking up were able to put up with how strong, focused, and determined a woman she is. It just so happens we fit in that regard, hand in glove. Our shit literally doesn't stink to each other, and it's what makes it work. Took us both quite a while to finally find one another, and I wasn't even really looking when she stumbled into my life, but ... yeah.

    Anyway. GL, HF!

Yeah, on the gravel, I'm definitely worried about the "what if I actually manage to try to figure out a shop" plan. But I've been told that, if that happens, the ground prep could stay as-is and we slab on top of it. The key first step is getting the rough grading where/how I want it. The hump near the house has to get smashed own over the trough, drainage needs to be managed from the front/bottom of the driveway, and then some curved approach from in front of the garage to the side and finally some fencing.

I won't pretend to offer any relationship advice :p I'll readily admit 100% of my thoughts on that are wasted brainpower :p

In other news, I had a dude messenger me about my SHOs on Saturday saying he'll take em. We spent about an hour just talking about SHOs. He texted me today saying he'd send a deposit to show he's serious. So I'm pretty sure I got em sold. Kinda sucks and very bittersweet to see them go but I have to be realistic about my situation. I don't need a project car at this point.

    Time for another boat update-

    She runs!! So good!!

The new electronic parts arrived, and after a few issues with low battery voltage, it now fires up with just a bump of the key! Even on old gas, and spark plugs from 1994! Super stoked. I always forget how much I love this boat. Took some nice photos while the magnolia was in bloom. Something I haven’t mentioned is that my mom is a high school art teacher, so I’ve had a camera or a paintbrush in my hand from day 1. It’s one of my favorite hobbies. These are far from my best work, but they're worthy of posting.

I also replaced the water pump, which if you didn’t know, is a regular maintenance item on boat engines as the pumps are made of soft rubber. They need to pull a vacuum as well as pump, so they need to be soft and they wear out or will harden from sitting. Mine was trashed, likely for sitting for 14+ years. Changed mine out on the dinner table:

    732B0E43-574A-4E8A-BA67-19A4BCAC0A28.jpg

    My mom wasn’t too happy.

That said, it’s super close. Still need to figure out the situation with the locking mechanism for the tilt, but otherwise we’re good to go.

Only issue? It’s gonna be like 41° at the lake. Oh well. I’m too invested to turn back now. We’ll bundle up if need be.

Need more pics of that Susan Magnolia. I was talking to dad about them this weekend, he didn't believe me that they get 30-40' tall. I need to show him pics, the ones here in ATL already finished blooming.

Good thing you have a boat cover, when those things drop petals, they blanket every-damn-thing! :D
