Hey y’all I got my radio unit replaced yesterday because of a defective screen. The new radio is worse:( some of the buttons to register the truck under my account don’t work navigation is not working either. Anyone had anything similar?

The old screen had vertical lines running thru and so does this with some extra artifacts in the lower area of the screen.

Take it right back and have them deal with it.

wonder if this has anything to do with matching the VIN to the HU when doing swaps in techstream security section.

Lol nobody has actually had to do this - sync VIN to HU for all the 8-14" OEM swaps

just because no one does it doesnt mean its not there. there is a bulletin stating the correct procedure on swapping the 3rd gen HU and using techstream security.

up to the dealer if they either eat the cost of a 3rd unit or figure out a way to pass it along.

oh shitt I know these things are expensive af they have gone silent no response to emails or texts. Out of curiosity how do I check if my unit is blacklisted? there has to be a way Toyota can internally update their query right if the unit isn't a knockoff or something.

TAS = toyota activation service (if i remember correctly)

so you pretty much need to be a toyota tech (with a toyota tech id) to call TAS and have a TIS account. only person i think may have insight is ryangregg

I'd seriously take it to the dealer and insist they do the job right. If they have to eat a radio then maybe next time they shouldn't have given the task to a helper instead of a master tech.

Odd they gave it back still not working. What kind of dealer doesn’t check to see if it’s working, that sucks. My 2022 Limited made 12/21 hasn’t had any issues like this. Sorry man

I have the 14in screen. I need to confirm something with you guys. If you browse the os in dark mode with brightness at 100% do you see any artifacts and weird discolored lines? It's very noticeable on the media screen that shows the current song being played. This new screen has artifacts in carplay too while the unit before didn't. If you turn off the headlights at night the screen gets brighter which might help spot the artifacts on your trucks. I thought it would be just the screen but what are the chances of this happening twice on different radios? Thanks for the help my dealer says they are waiting to hear back from corporate.

I asked them the same thing because as soon as I got home and started to register things I noticed the lines and my service advisor told me they checked it so yeah dunno starting to lose trust in them after years of service with them.

And make them top off your gas tank for having to return, that’s money and time out of your pocket and day. Techs made errors on my service and had to return. I made them pay for my time cause the inexperienced techs doing the work fucked it up. Not our problem. We payed enough for the truck. LOL. I got 3 tanks cause of them idiots haha
