Nothing cool just some general maintenance before a Windrock trip at the end of the month

    *tire rotation

    *oil changed w/
-Castrol edge high mileage full synthetic 5w30
    -AFE power oil filter
(1st oil change using the stahlbust drain. should’ve installed one way sooner than now)

    *cleaned and oiled uniball uppers

Saw one of those short videos on the interwebs about putting dawn dish soap in your garden hose close to the spigot and then rinsing your vehicle…I was pleasantly surprised! Afterwards I gave it a quick wipe down with a microfiber mitt and then rinsed and dried it off….just in time for some random rain. At least most of the pollen and dirt came off with minimal effort

If you wax your truck, dish soap is known to help remove wax, so... But who uses wax anymore?

I do about once a year haha and it’s due for it again actually, usually after hunting season is over is when I start taking better care of the outside of the truck before that summer sun starts baking and it gets too hot for me to want to be outside lol

Yeah, dish soap is what people use to strip all old wax and sealants before coating a vehicle with a new sealant.

I had been running a single resistor on the pass side since I had my HID projectors. When I installed these new Bi-Led projectors, I had to install the resister on the driver side as well. The lighting circuit was acting all screwy without it. When I first plugged in both my projectors and powered up the low beams, the driver side was on high beam while the pass side was correctly on low-beam. Hitting the high beam, they went vise versa, high on the pass side, and the driver side lowered to lowbeam. LOL. I thought maybe I had wired the projector wires to the H4 pigtail that I purchased incorrectly. I messed around with it for a bit but finally it started working both sides correctly when I went in the house and grabbed the resister that I had still in the packaging. Works fine now with a resister on both sides. Just a thought.

Spring is in the air, literally. Rolled around underneath my truck for most of the day and I'm going to be sore tomorrow. Made a lot of progress on my leaf spring surgery. Need to center the axle and attach the u-bolts tomorrow.

It's days like this I wish I had a lift in the shop.

    Truck (17).jpg

One of the broken shit-tec add-a-leafs from my current leaf pack and my overload. I ended up using the broken springs in my bastard pack.

    Truck (15).jpg

I ended up cutting the second and third leafs from Dave's pack and stacked them on top of the overload.

    Truck (19).jpg

I took off the main leaf pack from my truck to make it easier to center the springs. I'm glad I bought new center pins because my current ones are toast (and not long enough)

    Truck (6).jpg

    Leaf pack installed

    upload_2023-4-16_20-11-10.jpg

Interested to see how much lift this will give me overall. At bare minimum I'll get 1/2" lift, but I'm aiming for around two inches overall.

Nice! It may help you to know that when I made my bastard pack, it gave me too much lift, more than I wanted anyways. I ended up with a total of 5 leaf’s, and actually removed the overload. Did you get new shocks? 2” of lift might wanna strap it so you don’t pull your shocks apart if you’re using the same ones. Glad I’m not the only bastard.

Good to know, and good thought on the straps too. Also yes on the rear shocks, they have 8" piston shaft at full extension and I'm hoping to get it to around 4" of exposed shaft at ride height. Any more than that and I will for sure re-assemble the pack.

Also I kind of planned for too much lift, I figured it would be better to cut too many leafs rather than have to go back and do more.

Got the locker rebuilt and installed once again with the new case from ARB. Now that I’ve gone back and forth a couple times between 3.91 and 4.88 gears, I can confirm that I actually get better MPG on 35” tires with 4.88’s than the 3.91’s. Opposite of what I thought would’ve happened, and the reason I was hesitant to make the jump to 4.88’s. So that’s a bonus.
Also swapped out my plugs. Went with Champion double platinums. 3 of 8 were not even tight. Kinda scary but never any misfires and all the coil boots looked okay, no cracks. Haven’t drove it yet but I’m hoping for a 8-10 MPG increase. A guy can dream
