Hey guys, I bought my RXT springs used and I’m wondering if someone can tell me if this looks right. I am running them in option #2. Pictured below is the front end of one of my leaf packs and as you can see I have a bit of a gap between leaves 2 and 3 and a bit of a stress concentration as a result where leaf 3 touches leaf 2.

The second picture shows the spring clip. Is there supposed to be an insert installed there that clamps all leaves together, or do I have this correct? Thanks. 309D3627-8A42-4DF5-91FB-C465AF8ED3F2.jpg

What load do you normally carry? That can be normal for add a leaf setups that are lightly loaded. Typically the spring arch is a little different between springs; the extra leaf option has additional arch to return some ride height, not just the additional load capacity. Without the additional load, the additional arch in the spring gaps the leaf above it.

My icon 3 leaf kit did this before I added my gear to the truck. If you watch the Aussie 4x4 channel 4wd24/7, they have a short episode from several years ago about upgrading and sizing springs appropriately. They show an overly sprung setup to have the exact same type of gap when unloaded, but it disappears when loaded up. They go on to show the opposite - leaves flattering out when too heavily loaded.

I'm thinking of going with Option 3 on the RXT's. What else you running with the RXT's in the rear suspension? How much lift did you get, and how much weight you got in the back?? Sorry for all the questions...been trying to decide how I'm gonna get rid of my sag. What leaf/shock combo would be best for me. Carrying about 420lbs constant load.

I’m on pro shocks and stock shackles, not sure on the exact amount of lift but it’s somewhere between 3-4 inches. I run a rack and rtt daily, the springs handle the weight well but there is quite a bit of settlement over time with the rxt so I am just a tiny bit of rake currently

That pad wont last very long. Your entire pack seems rather flat if the truck is unloaded, or perhaps that 3rd leaf is pushing from the bottom so hard it flattens the top two.

The clip is as it should, nothing missing there.

Icon Stage 9 lift, 700 pound rated Eibach spring, Sumo Springs (rear), RCI engine skid plate. RCI Lower Control Arm Skid Plates, RCI Transmission Skid Plate, RCI Cat Guards, Rago dash plate. RAM phone holder. Bed rails. Tint. 17x8 Icon Rebound wheels. 315/70/r17 Falken Wildpeaks. AAC Trigger 6 Shooter, midland MTX-115 radio, Chassis Unlimited front bumper, OLB Bar light and ditch lights, Baja Fog lights, Smittybilt winch, Husky floor liners, bed rail, Cali Raised Bed Stiffeners, driver's side grab handle, Wheeler's Offroad front bump stops, Decked Tool Box

I have an Icon Stage 9 installed. I only had Option 2 initially to keep the truck level. But had to go to Option 3 because I was adding a rear fab bumper, a Decked toolbox with recovery gear inside, and a full size spare under the bed. I guess I added about 400 pounds. When they added the last leaf to make Option 3, there was a slight rake in the rear. I started to like that look. But but after about a year and a half, the rake went away and it leveled out. A couple of months ago, I went to Lowes to get a pallet of mulch, and when the fork life placed it in the bed, that RTX leaf spring didn't hold up too well. It should have if I did the math right. I think the Option 3 maxes out at 700 pounds.

I'm planning an overlanding trip this summer, so I need support in the back to keep the height when I load my camping gear. I'm getting rid of the RTX package and gong back to OEM. A local shop said they can add one a leaf (they manufacture the leaf in house) to OEM, get 4 inches of height to keep the rake, and support the gear. So, I'm going with that set up. I was thinking Alcan, but I decided to try the cheaper route and these guys were recommended by a local off road shop.

I'm starting to find after four years of owning this truck, that trying to get the best set up is sometimes a "let's try that and see if it works" kind of thing. (that's after speaking to a million people about their experiences and vendors). And go broke. LOL

I normally run a little light for the option 2 setup. Full size spare and a high lift in the bed is all. On trips I run a small trailer and sometimes a dirtbike or two. The pictures are with my daily load.
