To Overland or Not to Overland

  1. I would like to join an Overland Detachment.

  2. I would like to enjoy trail leader, lead day trip(s) and return back to base camp to sleep.

  3. I would like to explore the trails by me, myself and I.

Just fixed the angle of my BD fogs on that bumper. Apparently I was blinding the stoplights.

Is there a schedule posted somewhere for the trail runs? Is there going to be any late afternoon/ evening runs? I love the later stuff!

It’s very laid back and casual - people tend to just group up and go as they please. I’ve tried doing the organized runs in the past and it seems people change their minds once they get there so I think they’re moving away from that a bit.

There are usually people heading down Schnebly Hill nightly and a big group usually does a Broken Arrow night run Thursday I think??

Probably not scheduled. Runs are usually morning, then others in the afternoon; some last into the evening. But once you meet up with people you like, it often happens that a night run gets scheduled by those that want to do one.

Oh okay. Cool, we'll be getting there sometime on Thursday. Unfortunately, I realized we're not staying all that close (Oak Creek, not the Village) to the campgrounds, so probably won't be there too much.

Definitely down for an evening Broken Arrow run on Thursday or any day. Any later runs, actually!

I spent most of last time with the same group that I met on the first day, and we left camp in the late morning and got back after dark every day I think.

The first night in San g everyone seemed to say it was pretty cold(I was in shorts and tank top with flops until 10pm or so, I also slept super toasty in barely anything……..

So what the deal with sleeping bags. Some people swear you will be warmer if you sleep basically nude while others say you should layer up inside the bag. Someone is wrong but I don't know who.

You're supposed to sleep near nekid in the bag. The bags are designed to hold your heat. Getting clean helps too.

(Coordinates are to the entrance - specific campsite location will be shared soon)

The usual T2S campsite will not be open in time due to the amount of snow this winter.
Main camp is relocating to the Cinders in Flagstaff.

This is only about 15 minutes further from Sedona than our usual spot, and has significant tree cover as well as nearby trails to explore if you haven’t already.

    Our schedule remains the same.

Hold onto your hat! We’re toying with a mid-year idea… for the adventurous…

That would make an excellent trip. You’ll have to see if it’s open.
