I'm not going, so haven't been reading in this thread a ton.

But just happy I actually read replies after Frenchy posted that b/c I was absolutely two shakes away from posting the same damn vid. "Great minds..." and all. :bananadance:

Probably in the truck. I'll bring my sherpa blankie too, but I plan to do like Casey, thin the blood out to sleep better.

When you get to camp (or the next day, whenever the reg desk is person'd ), check in and sign up for trails you'd like to run. In reality, I'm guessing we 1st genners will likely run together and one of us that's done each trail before can lead. I'll be off overlanding 'til Thurs, so I'd suggest @des2mtn, who is often willing, and always qualified, to lead. But even if we do this, checking in at the registration is a good idea-- so the leader may get a cool shirt, and if any special is required, organizers know where to send the cameras rescuers.

We will likely show up Thursday afternoon or evening. Depends on how distracted the convoy gets with site seeing along the way from Amarillo. Not to mention how late we sleep after our Wednesday night reunion with our host Beau. I think it's a 9hr drive from there to camp.

Oh. To add, days are spent cooking, eating, running trails, MacGyvering any breaks, drinking and teasing each other back at camp. And what-not.

The trail runs that you sign up for in person are what determines your plans. They will have a time and meeting spot for each run at the signup tent. They ask you do not sign up for a trail unless you are 100% committed to going on the trail. Check out the trail descriptions on the websites if you haven't: https://www.tundrastosedona.com/trails Van Deren Cabin and Devil's Bridge are the same trail, just Devil's Bridge has a hike attached. You and @Mr.bee should try this one definitely to get warmed up, but take off any running boards.

Tuesday through Thursday is normal trails throughout the day.
Friday late morning to afternoon is go fast Friday at the Cinders.
Saturday morning is the raffle. There's usually trail runs later in the day after.

Trail runs don't begin super early, so you will have time to make your coffee and breakfast. If lunch is important for you, plan it around your trail runs or bring something to eat. I've also had trail runs end at dark when it's time for dinner.

Also you do not have to do trail runs, you're more than welcome to sit around at camp and enjoy the fun there or do your own adventuring.

Last time I followed Casper he was going 5mph and had no brakes so I'd be weary about doing that. :boink:

Maybe @FrenchToasty and I will lead the gang through Broken Arrow

I really dont wanna drag my doors on anything. And i'm not afraid to tuck tail and turn back. Is there a good trail app where i can download maps that work without signal? Is there at&t signal out there?

You can download the GPX trail files from the website and upload them to an app like Gaia, Onx, Backcountry Navigator, etc. where they appear as a track. Then download a map layer on the app to display offline behind the trail.

That sounds good to me. I think last time I left for your place at 4am and had to make a few stops and got lost briefly, so I didn't get there til dark. I won't be able to leave til 6am this time but I don't think I have any stops to make aside from fuel and bathroom. So hopefully I get there before dark but not sure.

The trails are all pretty friendly. But taking off side steps is probably a good idea. And watch the truck in front of you to anticipate clearance; there's almost always a line that will avoid damage. Smiley Rock is probably the only trail that shouldn't be done in a stock 4x4 .

No, I had to stop for fuel pretty often because west Texas is desert and few towns to fill up. Basically once I hit half a tank I'd pull over at the first gas station I saw to fill up and pee.
Is AZ like that as well? I plan to bring about 5gal of gas just in case

What's the liquor situation in AZ? Do they sell it at most stores at any day and time? Or is it like TX with our antiquated religious liquor laws where you gotta go to a liquor store between certain hours and not on Sundays.

We still have dry counties in TN. It's for Jesus.

The county where Jack Daniels is made is dry.
