I wouldnt call it bad yet, i dont see any holes. Look above the spare and inside the boxed section of frame.

Thanks for the reply, I’m trying to buy this from a couple states away. It’s a northern state vehicle so I just halfway expect ruined frames when I inquire.

What is it, exactly, about those two spots that would be a PITA? I’m just wanting to educate myself on what I’m seeing besides “rust” thanks.

Just cause its visible, and every rainy day water will spray and it'll grow. Framerails are fairly thick, rust will burn through sheetmetal quicker....but i dont really know. We dont get rust in texas.

I had a 2005, The box frame at the front where it starts to turn at an angle ( right under the driver & psgr foot well) look from the underside middle of truck on both sides of frame..they are prone to get holed. Toyota issued TSB & whoever followed thru were taken care of replacing frames up until 2016 or so. But mine the PO didnt bother with TSB hence Toyota refused to fix it. I had a shop weld the frame & it was otherwise good, ran like a tank, loved the crisp response due to a good mated tranny. Gently tap the frame with a hammer to see if its become thinner at any place due to corrosion. 20180531_145159.jpg 20180531_145222.jpg 20180531_144842.jpg The other one to check /inspect really well is the spare tire subframe area.

From what it appears, this truck might have had a frame replacement & also taken good care of after, so it might be good. Body panel or cab corners can always be dealt with, its not a big issue.
