I know the 2.5 gens struggled with this a lot, but it's crazy to see it happening en masse on the newer gens.

I have yet to crack my 2016 seat panels and I never pull myself out of the seat to get out. I'm about 180-185 lbs.

My 18 has a wear spot in the leather from the side panel of me getting in and out. Creeks like a MF'r as well and I try my best to not slide in/out. But I'm limited being 6'5" 250lbs at my ingress/egress finesse.

I can understand how these could crack under big guy stress but there are also people who have mentioned they're not in the big guy dept and still get cracks :notsure:

That looks exactly how mine started. What recall are you referring to?

Interesting. When they bought and dissected that one dude’s 1M mile Tundra a few years back, improving seat durability was one of the big R&D items.

This was back in September 2022, so I that was the Electronic parking brake recall.

TBF, this is more of an aesthetic thing. The part where you back and butt go would be more for the durability since that is what is mainly getting used.

First mirrors melting now seats cracking. Toyota's plastic has gone way downhill.

My old '08 had the same problem, same plastic bit broke a couple of times. Would have been nice if they upgraded that plastic panel since then, but my '23 feels every bit as flimsy as the '08 did.

I was told by someone I know in Corporate that they are redesigning that side piece with a metal backing, take that FWIW.

I was also told they didn't see this in their development, because all of the development vehicles had side steps.

Toyota plastics going downhill? They have reached the lowest point on earth, this is my seat cover destroyed and today my volume knob just broke by itself while I was working .

I’ve had my truck awhile now and had it replaced once I had to pay for it and now it cracked again . It’s definitely a bad design by Toyota . I have had my share of Toyota trucks and haven’t had this problem ever

That's disappointing to hear. My truck is arriving early next week. Funny I saw a youtube video where Mike Sweers bragged about the condition of the seat on the million mile truck. It was the "first thing" he wanted to look at. And now this kind of stuff is happening. I'm sure they will do their CI and eliminate most of these issues more efficiently than other manufacturers.

TRD Air Filters, Front door windows tinted to match the rears. Wheel locks, Talons Garage cat shield, Tyger Automotive soft tonneau cover, WeatherTech floor mats with Tuff Skinz Custom Emblem kit, Toyota OEM Emblem Black Out kit. AVS vent covers on all four doors, Red Tundra letters on front bumper & TRD highlighted in Red on front grille. Tailgate Tundra Letters in Black.
I agree my 2008 had a drivers seat cracking problem but my 2017 did not and now my 2022 does. For a redesigned truck I think the seat department needs to design a fix and at least offer a discounted price to fix if free is not an option.

I think this is a general problem with the 2022 Tundra. I got mine April 2022 and look at the chair

I've got the same seat panel crack. Took it to the dealer and was told it's covered and they placed a replacement panel on order. Also the service advisor told me he has already replaced 5 panels and this is a known issue.

Not knowing your target audience. A lot of really big dudes drive full size trucks and SUVs. If big enough about your only option

This sounds to me like a bunch of horse shit! here in "Merica" we have a massive abundance of plastic landfills let's sell it to Japan so they can go green and recycle it. LMAO!

Exactly. Just replacing with the same part until warranty runs out seems pretty annoying for something that's lasting about a year. And if/when Toyota does come out with a new and stronger piece that alone would be quite an admission of guilt the part was never properly made.

I wonder if they upgraded this part, just got my recent build 23 platinum and this piece seems pretty damn sturdy

the window seals are for sure better than the test truck I drove in 2022
