black panel below rear sliding window

well I done screwed up.

I had stuck a vinyl sticker on the black panel right below the rear sliding window. I was removing it with a razor blade very carefully, but still scratched it up all to hell.

Anyone know if you can remove it? I'm thinking of just scuffing it up and spray painting it flat or gloss black.

 

Law, don't feel bad I did the same thing, just on the top. I put up another sticker to cover it up. Might be able to wet sand with 1000k grit . Good luck

 

I'm not too worried about it. Worst case scenario, I either spray paint it and run the risk of it looking a little off (or kinda cool depending on which way Lady Luck swings for me) or just slap another sticker on it.
Wet sand may be the answer. Gonna give it a shot this weekend!

I think your idea would work also, so long as you have the surface evenly sanded. I would use a black crinkle paint though, I think.

 

Black crinkle? Is that like a glass looking finish?

 

I'm thinking like that paint SDHQ sells for touch up on the sliders.

this is the panel that looks like it's smooth glass. That's why i'm thinking of a gloss finish. Flat might look cool, but a textured finish? sounds like it would look like crinkled crap LOL

The reason I suggest this is:
If you're unable to exactly match an existing finish, it's sometimes best to go for a contrast. This works or fails depending on how the break point is accomplished.
The consequence of a gloss finish that is not matching the existing might be worse.

 

white toytec sticker.....just didn't look right. seemed a little too small for my tastes and the position. Tried to keep it alone for a few months but couldn't take it anymore. Got another one...gonna see if I can't figure out a better place to put it.

 

makes sense. Exactly why I'm thinking a flat finish, also. That's about as far of a contrast as you can get from a gloss finish. Wouldn't mind seeing how a bed liner finish would look.......

 

There's a lot of that going around, "too small and in the wrong position"
Usually they just compensate with more lift and bigger tires.
I like your idea of finding a better place to put it!
