I'll trade a few days of our 75* weather for that!

Eight days at Copper. Had it all - super cold, powder, and warm spring conditions.

    Timberline on Mt. Hood.
    64” in 72 hours - 20” just in the past 24 hours.
It was snowy and blowing a bit today, but we found plenty of places to enjoy the soft goodness with my girls.

Looks like a great time being had and now time for a warm :bananadead:

Gotta be careful on that last one though.... SIS (snow immersion suffocation) is a real thing; with all that fresh powder the base of those trees can be super dangerous

Yes. I’m acutely aware of SIS. A kid in the neighboring HS died when I was a senior up on the local mountain. Everywhere we were was good to go, and she was well away from the bases (just doesn’t look like it in the angle of the picture so much).

Not sure why (probably because of the extreme snowfall this year), but I've been seeing info on it quite a bit this year. They say the #1 safeguard for SIS is to never lose visual contact w/your ski buddy; and of course understand how to free someone that's in trouble!!

But, never mind me, carry on good sir and enjoy the time w/your girls!!!!!

Yeah - the shear amount of snow this year in a lot of the west has put SIS on hyper-aware broadcast.
They lost someone on Mt. Hood Meadows this year in Heather Canyon. And the snow fall around Tahoe/upper Sierra’s it’s got to be a huge concern.

Everyone was on high tree well alert when I was up in Tahoe a few weeks ago. They just passed 700” last week…nuts.

missed out on my park city trip this past weekend but going to give winter camping up in mammoth/Tahoe a try next year. See if I still have any of that northeast skin still on me

Update. Almost identical! He's definitely out for the season. And since my truck got totaled later the same day...my season is drastically cut short. The jeep takes 3/4 of a tank round trip lol.

Hey, y'all might be able to help me out on this one. We're planning a trip to either Jackson Hole or Big Sky to ski during the first week of 2024. Looking for lodging, which may be the determining factor between the two. Does anyone know of good lodging options for either resort that might not show up on Vrbo or AirBNB? There will be 6 adults on this trip.

I’m assuming you want to stay at the resort (JH) but there’s a lot more options in town. I’m biased but I’d pick JH over Big Sky for snow quality and terrain

In town is fine. We're trying to avoid breaking the bank as well. Ideally, we would be able to get to the slopes via shuttle, without having to drive at all. But if that is not an option, we could drive. We just have one non-skier and would like to leaver her with transportation.

Town would work. We have a great public bus to the Village and a town shuttle to get around Jackson. You don’t need to rent a car on the winter here. The main advantage to staying at the resort is on a powder day you’ll be able to get in line early. Look for the package deals offered by the resort. Nothing cheap around here. Book early

Yeah, not finding much in town on AirBNB or Vrbo. I'll keep looking.

Yep. My wife and I will be there in February. I could use a recommendation for who can mount my wife's new bindings on her new skis. I plan to ship them out a week ahead of time so they're ready when we get there. That snow looks great!

I need to start some major leg workouts!

Ugh! We are dry as a bone over here. We got some good snow around Christmas and then it got really warm early January. Now we have crust and ice with no snow in the forecast. We need a reset badly.

Pretty darn good in the north east so far - blue mountain pa was amazing on Monday. I took of work and headed up. Snow was falling and they had the snow guns going too. Best day i've had there in 3+ years.

Glad to see Wyoming is good. Plan on visiting my friend out here in Jackson in March. First time i'd be there
