Took it in yesterday to a guy that only does safety caps because he’s so busy with them. He said the driver side is fixable and drivable for now until I get it in. He said don’t put it on a lift or it could bend. The driver side AC line was dripping on it and they moved it away from that spot to prevent it. The passenger side was perfectly fine and so was the rest of the frame. Said it will be 990 dollars. I’ll have him look lever the rest of the rear components and give me his opinion. I can get it in early may. I’ll let you guys know how it goes.

Show us pics of the work if you can. I'm interested in this approach as well.

I tell you what, the Safety Cap repair kit is worth every penny paid for it. 990.00 installed is actually a pretty good deal. If his prep work is done well, you'll be golden...

I did this a few years back...worth every penny. I now wish they had a solution for the rear frame stiffener (as shitty design, if I do say so. Water gets trapped between the frame and the frame stiffener, and rust is inevitable. This is where the front leaf spring mounts are. When you see a picture of a Tundra that's bent after being on a lift, this is often the cause.)

Uh...I can't seem to find them right now. I'm sure I posted them here in 2019 :)

I'll have to look over the weekend.

W666's repair is very much the same as how I repaired mine. I also fabricated new frame stiffeners for the aft section of the frame, as most of you probably know already...
