That looks good. How solid is the case? Does it bounce. How much space is under it? I haul plywood sheet goods about once a month . Thanks.

I just measured, there’s 7.5 inches under the mounting brackets as I currently have it set up. Not enough to haul the number of sheets you have pictured. However, if you’re only doing it once a month, the box comes out with the pull of two pins and then the brackets fold up and out of the way. You could haul that full load like that. Takes less than a minute to remove the box and fold the brackets up.

Thanks! I have some Undercover swing cases from my other truck. They come out easy but I've not had them in a truck since 2019 and not missing them. I like the pelican case cause it looks longer and is flat vs deep like the SC.

The geometry was why I went with the Pelican. I can put a rifle case in it without any problems.

What does everyone think of the swingboxes? Do they hold up well?

I had swing cases in my ‘19 and one of them popped open when I wrecked it. It was still usable though. They do sag a little if you have too much weight which makes it a little harder to swing it closed without slamming it but they hold up good.

After using them in my ‘21 for awhile I got annoyed with the fact that you can’t access them easily over the side of the bed and can’t swing them out unless everything is out of the way. I switched to the Milwaukee pack out setup and like it much better. (See above post #21)

@Will816 could you provide links to the universal mounts and cali raised hardware you used to mount these deeper in the bed? I have the factory tonneau cover and am curious about using these with them.

I definitely like the DIY separators for something easy to keep things close to the tailgate but that graphic with the measurements makes absolutely no sense to me in reference to the picture of it in the bed

Edit: my dumba$$ figured it out, sorry long day!

OEM bed extender in a 23 1794 6.5’ bed. What an awesome and convenient $340. Took 5 minutes to mount and makes everyday things you use the bed for so much easier.

Does anyone know if the bed extender plays nice with the swing case bracket if the the case itself is removed?

    @Will816

How high did the Tacoma mount lift the case? The reason I ask is that I'm thinking about pairing your setup with a Bakflip which relocates the rails down by about 3-4" so wondering if I'd still need to get the universal mount.

Also, you have my dream truck! Circumstances dictated that I settle for a 5.5" bed..but at least I scored everything else I wanted (fully optioned Lunard Limited Hybrid)

I’m curious as well. Is there room to mount both necessary brackets for the Swing Box and Bed Extender?

I don’t think both will work at the same time, or maybe only if the bed extender is folded out but not sure.

    Can anyone confirm?

The Swing Box, is there an option to mount without drilling?

    Not really, no.

I document the install on my build thread for the Swing Cases. Link to the direct post. You can see how they mount. They need to mount to something that can hold weight since each case is rated for up to ~85 lbs.

Is there anything like this being made for the 3rd gen that anybody knows of? I'd love a lightweight plastic/composite drop in.

I just ordered and installed one of them, the other one had a broken hinge and am waiting on the replacement. Got them at Real Truck. So far I like them. I saw @KroppDuster post on his install and I need to do a minor adjustment on the latching bracket. I also used a trim tool to help pull the tail light casing out. Also the paper cut out was inaccurate to the bracket at the rear, so keep an eye out for that.
Before I had everything in a big plastic bin, which was hard to access. These have nearly instant access and easy to organize, especially for ratchet straps.

I've really enjoyed mine so far. I've had them for about 6 weeks now. I've definitely loaded them down. Each one is rated up ~80lbs. One has my recovery gear + ratchets and the other has my full toolkit. TBH...they've surprised me how sturdy they are. I was worried about the single hinge at first, but it's quite sturdy.

I also ran into an issue with the paper template being incorrect for one of the sides. I can't remember which side though. It was only off by maybe an 1/8th of an inch. Not a lot but enough to where I couldn't get the backing plate braket through. I just enlarged the hole enough with a step bit and fixed it right up. Only set me back a few minutes. Took me longer to find my step bit than to fix the problem. hahaha.

Side note: I bought mine on Amazon. I got both for under $400, but pricing on Amazon is a crap shoot. Right now, they look like they're the same price as Real Truck.

I had one of these before on my previous truck, ordered one for my father and just got another for my new tundra. Works well to keep things near the tailgate without taking up a ton of space when not needed. Plus you can always use it on something else.

Do these protrude past the fender well hump? I have mine from my older Tundra but haven't used them on my previous or current truck cause I didn't like having to take them out to carry plywood. I want using them enough before hand either way.

I have one from HF for this use. Works great.

Yes they do. By probably an inch on each side. So yeah, I'd have to take them out if I was hauling plywood sheets.

I've been trying to keep an eye out for scrap composite deck material. Not sure where to buy a single board. I tried using a piece of treated lumber but it's pretty heavy.

Has anybody made the separators from a 2x8? I am planning on making one for my '24 Tundra with factory spray-on bedliner and was wondering if it will fit snuggly in the channels or would I need to add something to the ends make it fit? It looks like the slots/channels are angled, does that cause issues?

Use 2X6's worked great. Drilled holes to lighten and also allow fishing rods to pass through and as anchor points. Added tiedown hardware and painted with bed paint.
